Turns out there is a lagless VGA scaler called the Retro Scaler A1 that transcodes directly from SCART to VGA but you have to order it from Norway and the price before shipping converts to a whopping $200USD. Utterly insane, but I guess that's what I'm gonna have to save up if I wanna play it on my monitor.

Thanks to you, I'm now tinkering with a very similar setup (although with a different supergun)! But I'm having an issue where even when my monitor is set to 4:3 output, these carts have a lot of black padding around all sides. Is there some specific setting you need to use on the OSSC to get it to properly upscale and fill the available screen real estate? Otherwise I'm thinking I might've gotten a bad PGM or something.

Looks like superguns have become a bit easier with aliexpress offerings. Composite, svideo, component, scart, 12v power brick, usb / db15 for controllers/sticks

Does your copy of doj have a slight freeze when playing solo on 2p side? The slight freeze occurs after picking ship 'a' with exy.

Really great video, just recently been getting back into shmups and am really interested in getting one of these set up. Do you happen to know if the setup you are using will work with a PVM monitor? That is, just going PGM > Supergun (+ Undamned for the stick) > SCART > BNC or something along those lines would work? Thanks again for all the great videos! :)

Hey I'm sorry I think the best place to ask is here but I have a PGM and a cart for martial masters hooked up into my supergun and then connected to my OSSC the game plays fine but there's no music I hear sound effects like hit sounds and attacks but no music tracks I do not know the issue

Ha, yeah it's pretty much just the PGM that I'm aware of. No footage of the setup, because I'm too lazy to undo and redo my setup on camera X-D

Shmups forum has a thread on there about superguns and the retroelectronic was not recommended due to the RGB signals not being buffered Of course I'm no expert but many experienced users don't recommend it as it's possible that the retroelectronic supergun can damage your equipment like the OSSC There are other safer options that were recommended like the HAS and the one I just recently ordered arcade project supergun the minigun and minigun advance which are safe Oh I forgot to ask how does the bootleg compare to the original pcb if you played the original pcb? I've been thinking about picking up a PGM for a while now

You are 100% correct about that SG, you should avoid it. You should pick up that PGM ASAP, it has a bunch of great games really cheap (for now).

@@MoK2025 Just got into buying arcade stuff in the last two months since I made a purchase for a HAS and an MVS Unfortunately the HAS and MVS never showed up so I went the Minigun Advance Route Manage to pick up all the MVS games I want so I'm moving on to the next arcade machine :) Picked up an Atomiswave but that system seems to have a very limited selection of games available and the NAOMI which I'd love to have is a bit pricey to get into So PGM it is. However I've been hesitant as I heard bootlegs can have issues with corruption and such. Still need to do more research on these carts If my findings are positive I'd jump on the PGM no problem!

Interesting! I had no idea about that, that's crazy. I'll have to do an update video in a year or so to see if the supergun ends up messing up my OSSC.

@@TheElectricUnderground from what I've read its possible that you may never run into problems but the fact that its unsafe is alarming enough for me to avoid have you opened up those carts yet? Do you know if the games use flash memory or eeproms?

Hi. Why would you want to Play these games in 1080p?. I thought they were originally designed for 240p low res crt screens?. You must be using a modern lcd screen to get 1080?. Have you tried it on a crt? Thanks

Yes, I play it both on CRT and LCD, depending on my mood ha. To get the 1080p on LCD you need an OSSC upscaler , which is a bit expensive but lag-free and makes the game look amazing.
