Guitar Interactive really know how to do a product demo. Some people who demo their company's product do a disservice to them because ,they only focus on certain functions of their product instead of giving a full product demonstration. Gi receives an "A" in this area because they focus on the entire product and its capablities and demo them accordingly.

The HD works great for recording two guitarists DI. I’m using it record my son’s band. He goes in one channel and the other guitarist goes into the other. We’re getting great tones. They put their effects chains in front of the HD.

I want to hear how this sounds with preamp style pedals like the Bogner Red Ecstacy, Friedman BE-100 pedal, etc. This seems like it would be perfect for me. I want a single stereo head with stereo XLR out and true stereo. I am curious about the virtual power output tubes. I could run my stereo fx through the fx loop. I have a setup already like this with my dual Orange Micro Terrors and ADA Microcab II.

Kinda late answer, same here! I emailed yamaha, they're saying it's normal. The amp knows when to kick those fans in, basically when it gets hotter.

I'm surprised nobody mentions that this is somewhat a novel re-marketing , repackaging and rebranding of Line6 innovation of yesterday! And it's not a surprise since they took over Line 6! What they actually did here is to extract the amp-sim module out of the POD (the dual amp setup is already present in the older PODs i.e. X3... I still have them to this day!) and repackage it into a head size metal box! Whether they actually make it better is another whole issue altogether. I have not played the THRs and I can't comment. So instead of using the whole POD system as a desktop or floor unit, what they are doing is separating out the simulation modules and selling them seperately. I suspect it's old Line 6 technology their using and not bringing anything new to the table! Sheesh!
@coffeewaldo7 жыл бұрын
Ash Eilyaas don't go by a utube video. I'm picky as hell and I got rid of my kemper and kept my tube amps and this.
@Maxx616 жыл бұрын
Not even remotely accurate. If anything, the 100HD is a natural evolution of their DG-line of guitar amps, used by Allan. I own a Vetta and there is nothing in here that is derived from the Vetta's architecture...or anything else from Line 6. Guitarists have been blending preamps for ages. It didn't start with Line 6.

This is not going to replace tube amps for me, but it is good that people who care less about tubes have a good option which allows them as much room to grow as a good tube amp would. Having said that, it saddens me that so many people do not understand the importance (corrected typo) of tubes.
@sportaciss92828 жыл бұрын
+Robstafarian What;s the "importance" you speak of. If you want solid-state/digital that's great. Same for if you want tube. How is one more important than the other?
@Robstafarian8 жыл бұрын
@112673144255056706661 I was referring to how tubes govern dynamics and tone, the significance of which is increasingly (corrected typo) lost on guitarists. John F. Rider's "Inside the Vacuum Tube" is in the public domain: reading a free PDF of it is highly recommended.
@metallica36048 жыл бұрын
Tubes arevold technology and highly unreliable. Plus, what is the damn point when 99 percent won't be able to tell the difference
@Robstafarian8 жыл бұрын
Avisek Ganguly Tubes fail, true, which is why they are mounted in sockets. Replacing them is simple, though biasing power tubes might be difficult for some. The point of tubes is the way they distort and the dynamic relationship they establish with a guitarist's playing.
@wiijuanjo8 жыл бұрын
I can say in my own opinion that as a guitar player since I was 14 years I didn't know the importance of a tube amp because I never had the opportunity to buy one at that age... Finally I purchase a jvm 210h and the difference is fucking huge!! to be honest the sound is much cleaner, much heavier and the warm feeling of the tubes is something that a digital amp is not going to give you never. And probably yes is a difference that the 99 percent of the people won't be able to recognize but men lets by honest you cant not compare a 69 mustang with a 2014 one jajaja I´m talking about engine, sound, quality, power, you know is the same but not the same haha digital vs tubes a lot of difference.
@Veranek8 жыл бұрын
This is a very sounding amp, but the price is TOO high in my opinion.
@santos0x8 жыл бұрын
+SlickDude But that completely misses the point. Yes, $800 is relatively expensive, but a tube amp is heavy, needs a certain volume to get the tubes to sound their best, can have reliability issues, etc. Just because an amp has tubes doesn't automatically mean it's "better". This amp sounds great to my ear (all that should matter, really) and is extremely versatile. The attitude in the guitar community that SS amps should only be cheap or they're "too expensive" but m any amp with tubes automatically justifies the price is ridiculous and close-minded.

NuZ Annunziata Absolutely. You know, as much as I like the sound and the idea behind this amp, I'm not sure I'd buy it in this form. If they come out with a 100w combo with a 10 or 12 inch speaker that weighs in the 30lb range, then maybe. The speaker cab weighs like 50lbs, which is too heavy for me. I'm done lugging around heavy amps...or at least my back is.

Sounds terrible and ugly to me. Great player, but terrible amp. Fuzzy, thin, farty, AND brittle. It's hard to get something that wrong, ya gotta hand it to them... Yamaha (Roland as well, funny enough) is like that. It's a home run or a total strike out. I can tell the guy is struggling to make it sound like something. It basically one sound with Mayo smeared all over. The effects are great, I have to say that. WAY too expensive as well. I could buy a used Bogner, Boogie, or Dr.Z for that money.

I have this amp along with the thr10 and thr10x. They don't sound like this at all. Not trying to offend the Guitar Interactive sound engineers, but I think their choice on EQ'ing and possibly mic placement is not doing this amp any justice. In this video it sounds very fizzy like you mentioned. I have owned a number of tube amps (Marshall, Peavey and Randall) and have played extensively with others (Fender, Mesa, Vox).
@coffeewaldo7 жыл бұрын
Iker Tursi I have it too and it's great sounding.
@peterPlaysTheGuitar3 жыл бұрын
I can assure you there's plenty of good sounds you can get out of this amp. Honestly the only shitty option is that solid preset. After a bit of tweaking with the EQ and with the tubes settings behind, you'll find some great sounds that you might like. It really feels like a tube amp. The price is a bit high indeed, but if you get some deals on the price it's really worth it.
