from what i understand of the whole thing, people aren't mad "at the knife", they're mad at gareth bull himself for how he handled the drop. iirc it was delayed a couple of times because of crappy webpage hosting, then he said he'd postpone indefinitely and on that same day he edited his post instead of making a new one saying the sale was on anyway even though the site worked like shit. can't verify 'cause i'm in europe and he said a long time ago the drop will be us-only so... i only know this because i happened to visit knife_club that day or the day after :D

Its nice and I'm actually moving towards lighter and slimmer knives like this or the Boker Plus Urban trapper (really wish I coulda got it cocabolo damn) and the CRKT CEO. Both great knives you can use as your EDC and disapear in an office environment cause people mistake them for pens or markers (if their not really looking 😄) . This is a bit out of my price range though. I don't like spending more than a hundred bucks on a knife. For me nowadays its gotta be under 3 oz and simple but elegant? kinda like the Shamwari. Unless its got an orange handle.....I'm a sucker for orange knives. lol

I have what I need in my leatherman wave. A prybar by itself to me is mostly useless considering how little I use one. For me it’s: knife, pliers, scissors, bottle opener, screwdriver... then maybe the pry flathead of the leatherman wave. Don’t be disappointed in me- everyone uses their tools differently. A prybar by itself in my pocket, is literally just something else in my pocket.

I'd actually say that takes you out of the anti prybar community, you understand the utility of it you just dont need to carry one separately because you often carry your wave. I'm more baffled by the people that cant understand the utility of the prybar in any form, the people that think its crazy to carry anything beyond a knife.

I've encountered a large group of people (usually in EDC FB groups) that are vehemently against prybars in any form and are extremely offended that anyone would possibly carry one. If I worked at a paint shop and all I did was pry, then I’d reconsider. I often times see people just display them alongside pocket fulls stuff on social media- as essential as a knife... and it’s odd. I just rarely carry that much stuff. When I’m doing real work I’ll put my leatherman on my belt and forgo the pocket knife to stay light. I just get tweaked by all the endless Paracorded prybars I see, one after the other. It more an annoyance of the saturation of the new centrality to essential every day carry, the prybar has taken- than the prybars themselves. It’s just my opinion, and please understand it was more of a lighthearted jab- than a strong anti prybar stance.

I think the Massdrop Keen is the better looking knife, though not in that colour, which is my least preferred after the gray and the bronze. I prefer the blade shape and the larger handle. I would buy it, if I were in the market for a $150 pocket knife that would be illegal for EDC in my country. Which I'm not. So sue me.
