Adele Young is hoping to bridge the gap between research and industry in the Caribbean. Ms Young received her MSc in Water Science and Engineering with a specialisation in Hydraulic Engineering and River Basin Development. “You have people in research, and people in the industry doing their jobs, but there is no interlinkage. There is no transfer of skills in that respect. Being exposed to a strong research base and a strong knowledge base - I think that is really what needs to be developed. I would like to implement my skills and try bridging that gap using the technologies and approaches accessible in other countries and try to translate and scale it to a Caribbean perspective”.
Adele received a SIDS fellowship. The SIDS fellowships are specifically targeted to young professionals from SIDS countries who are working in the water sector and looking to expand their knowledge and experience. Through these fellowships, the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs and IHE Delft hope to effectively contribute to strengthening the capacity of professionals and decision-makers to improve water management in SIDS countries.
