I challenge everyone to read 2 Corinthians chapter 2 on your own and try to make sense out of it. - Paul begins speaking of his decision to not come to them. - Then Paul speaks of allowing the fornicator back into the church! - Then Paul tells of what he did when he did not come to them. Does this make sense to you and is the narrative logical? Of course not. This is because verses 5-11 have been corrupted in the translation of most bibles. As a Greek scholar I will tell you what the chapter truly says: 2 Corinthians 2 1. However, because of the difficulties that I have had, I decided not to come to you. 2. For if I was to burden you, who would remain to lift up my spirit? Certainly not those whom I have burdened! 3. I have written this for you, so that when the difficult times come, I can trust you to make it easy for me to rejoice, because I receive joy from all of you. 4. It was with much sadness and distress in my heart that I wrote unto you through many tears, that you not be burdened by this. But the love that I have for you is now much more abundantly known unto you. 5. And though I brought grief unto you, I am not grieved, though partially; But not that I be overbearing unto you. (2 Corinthians 7:8-12 exposes the errant translation of these verses in most bibles and reaffirms the purpose of the first letter) 6. But it was necessary that the correction was brought in this way unto the majority. (1 Corinthians 1:11) 7. Now, in their presence, you should bring graciousness and comfort to those that are weak, that sadness not overtake them. 8. Therefore, I instruct you to confirm your love unto them. (third person plural - the congregation) 9. For this is the reason that I wrote (the first letter) unto you, that you would have the knowledge to prove yourselves, so you could be obedient in everything, 10. and that some of you might become hot. (Revelation 3:15) I wrote that you not make worthless his grace! (G-2756 + G-5483 + G-3105) You must avoid making his grace worthless; Do this by remaining in the presence of Christ, that you are not overtaken by Satan. (Matthew 15:9; 2 Corinthians 6:1) 11. For we are not ignorant of his ways. (1 John 3:3) 12. However a door was opened unto me by the Lord, so I went to Troas with the gospel of Jesus Christ. (Acts 16:9) 13. But while there, I could not find rest in my spirit, nor could I find Titus, so I went to Macedonia. 14. Thanks be unto God that he leads us to victory in Christ, and the residue of his knowledge has been revealed through us, everywhere. 15. We have become a sweet-smelling fragrance unto God. Christ is in all who are actively being saved. 16. But for those that are perishing, they smell of death and they shall receive death; Yet for those of you who have the fragrance of life, you will go unto eternal life. But who has not comprehended these things? 17. Though there are not as many of us as there are of those who are corrupting the instructions of God, we announce Christ and sincerely live in the ways of God, while in the sight of God.
