I'm also a general contractor and getting into water mitigation. I did the wrt/asd 5 day combo class, it was $1500 plus the $160 for the iicrc test. We did flood a simulation house, carpets, hardwood, baseboards and it had a crawl space. Dumped 350 gallons and let it soak over night then dried it all out by end of class without pulling carpet or tearing off baseboards. I also just did the AMRT cert. $1100 plus test $150 4 day class. It covers a lot more then just mold, goes over all bacteria you get with cat 2 and 3 floods, goes over disinfectants and how/when to use them. And yes does cover a lot about mold.

So the certifications expire annually from what I understand, only a renewel fee is required to reinstate. If these lapse, who is the sanctioning body that will penalize this? Trying to understand how it all works. No licenses required but certifications are required (who requires this?)

Good info, do you have any licensing yourself @shane ? I get it’s not needed for the mitigation part of the business but do you do the reconstruction and have license for it?
@TheRestorationContractor Жыл бұрын
We had a general contractor's license (I was a GC by trade before restoration). Other than that I had certifications for water, fire, mold, carpet cleaning, pesticide applicator

It varies... do you have certs yet? if not, that cost time and money too... but I'd say 8-10k if you are renting the gear
