IIDX 5th Style (A17 JA A01)

In IIDX 5th Style, there is no more intro movie. This is somewhat disappointing as the movies in older versions set the tone and provided an attractive screen to watch and invite people to play. Instead, the start screen is displayed in a static image and a new theme song plays. Auto-scratch mode has been added and Hi-Speed mode now supports Hi-Speed 1-3, greatly increasing the utility of the Hi-speed modifier. The tag line has changed again to "IIDX of a new century." The in-game interface is similar to that of the previous styles, although it has been modernized and appears far more streamlined. The in-game song-select screen also shows you your selected modifiers instead of waiting until the song intro transition screen to display them. Much like all styles from IIDX 2nd Style onward, new songs are shown in Cyan and songs that carry over from older mixes are shown in white.

I suspect that playing an intro movie on the attract screen was putting unnecessary wear on the Video CD player. Maybe they dropped it for that reason? Even back in the early 2000s I’d see a lot of player videos showing Victor VCD read error screens on the BGA layer.

Interesting theory! I didn't really think about it but yeah, those DVD players are extremely finnicky. To get the footage for these videos I had to take the case off mine, put miniature heatsinks on all of the MPEG chips and aim a fan at it or it would freeze in about ten minutes.

I wonder how inconvenient this game was... Like yeah I just have started playing this game since copula which is still new Now with the most convenient iidx UI, I still find the game hard.... Now what about this one? I think I would just give up anyway
