Same, it's good for the sport (just not good for for Hockey Canada). The whole Latvian team deserved this win. Their goalies seem to always cook us now and then. Hockey Canada needs to take a long hard look in the mirror and maybe re-evaluate its roster construction process

Если взять взрослую сборную, то да, была взята историческая бронза два года назад, но опять же, это всего лишь был разовый всплеск, играли дома(частично), не забываем, что всё это без участия России. На следующий год привычное(+/-) 9 место. Касаемо этого матча, то здесь по броскам 57 на 26 в пользу Канады, так что говорить тут о каком-то прогрессе... Ну так бывает, когда одна команда переигрывает другую во всём, но по итогу проигрывает. Ну и последнее, какие места занимала Динамо Рига(читай сборная Латвии) в КХЛ последние три года, к примеру? Последние и предпоследние места, так-то. Можно взять и больший отрезок, тоже ничего хорошего, чуть лучше, но ненамного.

Canada has more indoors stadium than Latvia has professional players, so CAN is obviously the stronger team objectively. But the heart and spirit and the effort of LV guys is incredible! It’s a fake shot when it looks like he fans, the idea being that the goalie thinks he’s shot his wad, thus trying to catch the goalie off guard when he really takes the shot.

It's now 2024 going on 2025. The rest of the world is catching up, especially America. It was bound to happen sooner or later. Same exact thing happened to America with basketball... the Europeans have finally caught up to them. 30% of the NHL is now American (highest ever and rising yearly)... while only 40% is now Canadian (lowest ever and getting lower yearly). It's the natural growth of the sport. I actually read an article just the other day about this. It's definitely something to look into. Canada no longer has a stranglehold on the sport like they used to. Teams are more intimidated by the Americans in this tournament right now than they are the Canadians. It's a tough pill to swallow for hockey Canada but those are undisputed facts now.

They have 5 min 3vs3 OT and if no one scores they go to shootout. At least it's like that during group play, might be different in the elimination rounds

There was 5 minutes 3-on-3 OT before the shootout, neither team scored there. To answer the question in general, it's because several games a day are held at the same venue, and players play a good chunk of games in a few days. Having short OT and then shootout if no one scores is much more fair than having a team go through 4 OTs only to play against a rested team 15 hours later.
