This is improper way of understanding Dharma. Do not think in they way of monotheists who standardize everything to few words and sentences. 1) Satya, Ahimsa, Duty, etc are characteristics of Dharma, not Dharma in themselves. Anyone who follows the characteristic cannot claim to be Dharmic, because these on their own can be rationalized to any end goal. 2) You and I don't get to say what is Dharma. It is the natural order of this universe. We can only seek to understand it, through experience as Karma Yoga or through inquiry, observations and meditations as Jñāna Yoga. 3) But what if different people have incompatible claims to Dharma? Dharma being the natural order of Universe, has qualities of protection and sustainability provided by the same Universe that you seek to support through upholding Dharma. i.e. actual Dharma will survive and sustain over anyone's claims or rationalizations. It is important to clarify Dharma is also not "best practices for sustainable living" as professor alludes to. Dharma is form of Bhakti by a pantheist Hindus who see god in everything that exists (aka universe).
