hi, can u plz let me know on below few queries, as my son has been offered a seat in iit jammu. 1) do they have swimming pool, if not then is there any chance of coming in future? 2) do they provide option of having single occupancy room in the start itself? 3) what time the first lecture starts? 4) is it safe as parent we always get worried being sensitive area? 5) what was the median package for chemical engineering of last yr? 6) if we have to choose between iit patna or iit jammu what do u suggest ? 7) do they provide mattress for bed or we need to get it? 8) do they allow to keep kettle in the room so we can make hot water as n when required? 9) do they allow to use machine once a week or we can as n when we want? are there any charges for using it , do they provide detergent or we need to bring by ourselves, do they have any laundry service who can was n iron both the things? thanks in advance.

1) There is no swimming pool. For Inter-IIT Aquatics Meet those selected go nearby for practice. But they are chances in future. 2) No single occupancy in starting. 3) 9AM Generally (sometimes 8) 4) IIT Jammu is safe to be very honest.(Coz Nagrota Army Camp is also at a walking distance) 5) 12-13 LPA last batch 6) Depends on the branch. If the same branch is offered then IIT Patna. 7) They are provided at the time of admission in the hostel itself at some price. You can purchase at that time. 8) Yes you can keep a kettle. 9) You can use Machines whenever you want . Automated machines have just arrived and they ask for I think 30 Rupees for wash+ spin.

@@satyanshiitjammu5997 Thanks very much for ur valuable response. it will help parents to take a final call. i forgot to ask few questions, can u guide me on that too. 1) Usually how many times child gets break in entire year to come back home, i heard 2 months straight holidays in summer and 1 month holiday in winter like diwali break. 2) Tentatively when the first semester starts around last week of july or first week of august 3) is there any ironing vendor facility in the campus itself or kids needs to iron by themselves , and if they hv to iron by themselves then is iron provided by college or they hv to carry by themselves from home. 4) could u plz elaborate ur view on the point where u said it's better to choose iit patna rather iit jammu on chemical branch. as we r expecting to get chemical branch in iit patna in next round . ur views on this point will help us to take a decision. we r confused between iit patna or iit jammu !!!! 5) since u said there is a facility of swimming once a child is selected for inter iit aquatics meet, can we buy membership of swimming there may b annually basis. as he is a good swimmer n loves swimming. 6) in most of the iit campus tour of other iits we hv seen on youtube. cycle is needed coz of its vast area, but none of the campus tour in jammu we hv seen cycle, why so? do kids cycle in iit jammu. 7) can he opt for single room in second yr. 8) do all rooms have AC, if not then can we choose for an AC room in 1st YR itself. 9) we r from mumbai and mumbai weather is moderate round the year hows the weather in jammu is it too cold round the year. once again thanks in advance for all ur valuable inputs.

@@sachinjain7421 Hello Sachin. 1)Well you get a winter break of 1 month ,a summer break of 2.5-3 months, apart from this you get a mid sem break of 4-5 days each sem 2)Reporting for first sem is 31st July ans 1st August while classes will start from 7th after orientation programme. 3)Well press(iron) is not allowed in campus and there is a fine on keeping it or other electrical appliances(except electric kettle) , sadly we don't have this facility in campus either. 5)I am not sure about that 6)No cycle is not needed in IIT JAMMU (its not allowed even) , because our old campus is quite small and for new campus(phase B) buses are scheduled on regular basis. 7)As discussed in video by Satyansh sir , you will get single room in 3rd year only. 8)For 1st and 2nd year students AC is not availed in rooms ,you get ac room in 3rd year itself but classrooms and library are fully air conditioned 9)Well weather of Jammu is not very cold in winters min temp goes to 4 or 5 degree and in summers it goes to 42-43 degrees. NOW coming to 4th point well IIT PATNA is better ranked in NIRF rankings and its placements are better than IIT JAMMU , so if you are getting same branch at IIT PATNA go for it ,but if getting some lower branch at IIT PATNA then go for IIT JAMMU. btw I am from 2nd year CSE IIT JAMMU
