I am an electrical engineer in making. In my 5th semester, I couldnt understand what my teacher lectured on line capacitance and inductance. So, Mr. Kothari came to help me via Nptel. From there I started to gather every book he wrote on Power Systems Analysis. He lecture like it is a cakewalk for anyone. I will thank him for these lectures and I will also acclaim NPTEL for providing these lectures where still inefficient teacher are present.

I nearly fainted on hearing the introductory music but I recovered to hear a very informative lecture. I'm still twitching from the shock of the xylophone and accompanying percussion but the section on load and generation balance (LG Balance) 33:40 was excellent.

sir how can we know who is using electricity during light load??
@harshnaik6989
@harshnaik6989 7 жыл бұрын
I had doubt, if we increase active load in night how come diversity factor will increase as during night already diversity factor is high as less loads are active during that time.
@vikashtiwari5505
@vikashtiwari5505 6 жыл бұрын
because if we increase the load in night time also then we actually tends to straighten the load curve ...hence the P average slightly increases while P max decreases ...so diversity factor and load factor both increases ....... (correct me if i m wrong :) )
@harshnaik6989
@harshnaik6989 6 жыл бұрын
vikash tiwari yes you are right. The practical reason is that power companies subsidised electricity to those companies who decides not to operate during peak load period insted they will operate during night( low load period ). By doing so power companies during peak periods need not turn on "peak load plant"( fully ) and continue to operate by their "base load plant" and hence they save money( operating/building peak load plant cost extra money). Main objective is to shed peak load so that there is no need for build/ operate "peak load plant" beside "base load plant".

whats the title of the book? i need a book for this course too. These lectures r good and useful but they dont have a recommended text in the description that makes following and absorbing the knowledge entirely dependent on videos, It would be helpful to have a text. I hopw they put a text in the description of every course.
