Please note at 51:51, Entropy change for the reaction is +3.5 J/K/mole at 298K. (A very small entropy change and plot is still almost constant) Rest each and every points are same. Thanks MKA Sir

@JUNAID UR REHMAN Hehe...😁 Unfortunately the concept of oxidation states is not as well defined as one would expect. But, We have to thank the IUPAC for that. When you apply the official definition from the IUPAC goldbook, then you have to assign OS(H)=+1 as it is not a compound with a metal. OS(O)=−2 as it is no peroxide compound, leaving the somewhat disturbing OS(F)=+1. Going with the alternative description based on electronegativity, you will still assign OS(H)=+1 as it has the lowest electronegativity. Then you assign OS(F)=−1, because of the highest electronegativity. This leaves a oxidation state of OS(O)=0. The true charges are of course something completely different. In a DF-BP86/def2-SVP calculation the NBO partial charges can be found to be q(H)=0.45, q(O)=−0.32 and q(F)=−0.12 I will suggest you to write oxidation state = 0. MKA Sir

This topic could not have been better explained. Thank you MK sir. I realised that at transition temperature , liquid form of metal should have almost same entropy as that of solid. So I checked and found that transition temperature were actually B.P of metal ,thereby increasing the entropy sufficiently to cause sudden increase in slope.

in the explanation 15:46 even though the reaction is an exothermic one,why we are not taking it as negative delta H. if we take this quantity as negative then it will affect the graph also no?
@mdkashifalam51715 жыл бұрын
We have taken ∆H as negative.. thats why intercept is negative in graph. Please look carefully. 😊
