Hey ! Thanks a lot for the review. I'm hesitating a lot between this iiyama in 27" (GB2790 : 27",240hz, 1440p) and the GB2870 which delivers 150hz@2160p on a 28" display. Overall 240hz vs 4k .. what do you guys think ? There is also the ASUS TUF VG28... which has all options (28",165hz,4k,elmb sync..) but way more expensive I imagine all have good response time... what about colors and light bleeds between the 3 panels ? I actually have an asus 27",1440p,144hz and I rly love it. I wanted to switch to AMD (freesync needed) and IPS panel but there is a lot of choice around 500€ and can't decide.. I dont think i would use HDR or elmb , i'm kind of "the more native, the merrier" and the less flickering the merrier too.. I will probazbly order the iiyama 28" 4k for futureproof reasons (hdmi 2.1, 4k...) just to make sure the screen lives longer (can end upon my son's ps6 or wife office...) ty for any advice
@TotallydubbedHD Жыл бұрын
Really depends as to what you're looking for, the gamer that you are or aren't, budget and your GPU. Personally I'd never get a 4K panel, as I'm a hardcore gamer - 1440p is the sweet spot for me. And note, Freesync does work on many monitors without issue while using an Nvidia GPU (G-Sync)
@incakola486 Жыл бұрын
@@TotallydubbedHD thx for your answer :) i do play a lot indeed but getting 200fps qhd or 100fps 4k shouldbt be an issue in the games i play and rly want perf (like dota2, rocketleague..) I'm heading for a 7900xt(x) btw. Otherwise 60+ fps freesync on AAA solo games is ok for me. I was thinking fsr can help me maintain decent amount of perf in the nxt years for 4k. I agree about the 1440 sweet spot atm but i'm also tired of the bad scaling 1080p-> 1440p when watching any video on fullscreen. And maybe 4k is more futureproof.. I'll get the 4k iiyama if you day that iiyama panels have great colors and contrast in sdr. Or asus if you think the panel is better (brightness issue with iiyama?)

I'm considering buying this to replace my (nearly 10 year old) ASUS VG248QE to carry me over for the next 4/5 years before I go for a higher resolution screen. I don't care much for a higher than 144hz refreshrate, but I feel like the colors on my VG248QE are relatively bland, whether cause of age (if it works that way) or simply because it's an older screen. Would a newer screen actually be a notable improvement? Or should I just hang onto this untill it breaks? - Even though I don't want to buy a top of the line screen right now I'm not on a tight budget overall (if that influences advice). Thank you if you have the time to answer my question. :)
@TotallydubbedHD Жыл бұрын
That's an old TN; so yes, a modern TN or better still, an IPS or VA would get you much better results. What GPU are you using, as you might want to look into a budget 1440p instead?

@@TotallydubbedHD Hi thanks for your answer. I'm using a Radeon RX5700 at the moment. Which will get replaced in the next year or 2 I think. 1440p is still doable for this card I recon. @@just-dave-it9204 fair enough, then stick to a 144hz IPS, such as the AOC 24G2U (or 24G2SPU). Don't go for a 240hz if you're not a hardcore gamer. As for HDR, at this price point it's completely pointless for PC users.

well i bought this monitor because of your review 24.5", 62.2cm 1920 x 1080 @240Hz and I am going to return him. I had iiyama Prolite X2377 hds but i decided to sel him even he is 10 years old now and still works great. I use him overclocked for this period of time on 75 hz even he was from factory made to be only 60 hz. This was my biggest mistake. So IPS backlight is way to low compared to my previous one. It looks like TN panel (when looking direct on him) and not IPS display. So backlight is 1 thing. 2 thing is height of pixel pitch. I checked all on iiyama web page in specifications. This one has pitch pixels of 0,286 mm and for compare my old one iiyama Prolite X2377 hds has 0,265 mm. Becasue of this difference the letters on web pages are not so thick and you can see inconsistency of the shape of the letters. Even icons are not sharp and you can see jerky shape. For example 24" Zowie by BenQ XL2411K has pitch pixels of 0,276 mm. 3 thing because of all these ailment of this monitor my eyes suffer from using him and i will return him. But this is only my review, maybe others do not have problems with this monitor. I will give iiyama last try and i will go change him for 27" iiyama G-Master G2770QSU-B1 it is his "bigger brother" one with only 165 hz but with height of pitch pixels 0,233 mm. I hope bigger resolution of screen 2560 x 1440 @165Hz with combination of lower pitch pixels will result in better quality. It is also good buy when you want to connect it in future with XBOX or with PS5. If even bigger brother will suck also I will buy Samsung or BENQ
