We are not Black culture, we are not jamaicans , WERE KANAKA w a special unique culture and heritage and I really pray I see that represented more and more from our people. NOT trying to be a poppy fake rip off version I really got sick of the "jawaiian /hawaiian " modern music because so much had 0 truth, 0 heart connection, 0 real lyrics,0 SPIRITUAL ENERGY . As a kanaka I feel NOTHING, for most of this music. I grew up in Maui Hawaiian Homes, there was kanikapila jamming my poppa, everybody over all the time. It makes me mad that a serial,psycho rapist like Nahko, he stole our words to put into his trash music. ALOHA KE AKUA. He is a demon. I am so tired of the culture vultures. These people are quick to make videos/posts about how spiritual evolved they are but NONE STAND, NONE OF THEM SAY HEY STOP THE 128 + Yr GENOCIDE UPON THE KANAKA MAOLI PEOPLE DEOCCUPY THE HAWAIIAN KINGDOM. Nope, they only use their Hawaii connection and words to MAKE MONEY ON US AND OUR ANCESTORS BACKS.

You should join a bunch of FB groups( w thousands following), Look up -Native American groups / Jamaican groups /Roots music /World music /Hawaiians in the Mainland/Indigenous groups...etc. When you share your links, if random strangers love it and then post it to their wall, EVERYONE on their friends list then is exposed to you.

I appreciate you being adamant about asking for translations. However, to translate something is to diminish the various possibilities for word/phrase ambiguity (kaona) of the thoughts and topics being sung about. This kaona aspect of Hawaiian composition is supa important to the elements that make Hawaiian music Hawaiian, furthermore taking away from beauty of the composition. The first two verses are actually is full of word play for the titles of the Hawaiian language reggae songs that the pioneers composed. I wouldn't be able to address those elements in a word for word translation. I could maybe do the bridge and last verse if youʻre interested. I don't get paid anything from this music, I don't have a team that helps me with anything, I don't have any schooling in lyric videos or music production; these compositions are solely made to show that Hawaiʻi is a thriving and literate identity through fine arts and with high hopes to inspire the listener to use the hawaiian dictionary (hilo.hawaii.edu/wehe/) and various hawaiian language teaching schools (online, in-person) to aid us with fluency. It is with this fluency and literacy where weʻll gain the full perspective of this music and Hawaiian music/identity as whole. Lmk if you need more info!

@@Ehinoa awesome, inspiring! all the lyrics are on google as of right now (link below). The Hawaiian dictionary is pretty extensive for vocabulary building. Duolingo is a good app to add daily fun. Oleloonline is a recommended online course, theres nothing like showing up to a Hawaiian language class most community colleges or universities in Hawaiʻi. Most teach out of the book "Nā Kai ʻEwalu" (order form below). Language is the fiber that binds you to your cultural identity. Hope this helps! @@ikaakamai lyrics for ha`awina rege no show up on google, most of your music doesnt have the hawaiian words typed out for them, thank you for the recommendation~ I think having your lyrics typed out for people to read will help people be familiar with reading hawaiian words too, but as for to translate every word to english TRULY would kill the meaning and make it lose tons of value so no need translation i agree 100% also i appreciate you very much for actually devoting your time and money to show the hawaiian language in music and reggae! i also thank the jamaican pioneers of reggae haha
