Just try your best! You'll probably just be hitting and doing drills with the coach. Try not to be nervous haha it makes it a lot easier to show what you can bring to the team! You got this, let me know how it goes !

hi i know this is late but when you started tennis did you have to play in tournaments or did your coach just let you practice more? i want to tryout for my highschool tennis team (i’m going to be a freshman) but i’m scared he will put me in tournaments and i won’t play well. also we’re there people on your team who weren’t that good either/beginners?

I started off playing on the high school tennis team and then got a coach but played little tournaments and learned the basics and just moved on from there. You got this!

I was training initially to become a college player, now I am focusing on my studies, and still play to be the best I can be.

When did you start tennis? I am 14 and really wanna start tennis in hopes to be a professional but I fear it is too late. The reason I haven’t started before is because we couldn’t afford lessons until now. Is it too late for me?

I think at 14, you're kind of on the later side but as cliché as it sounds, you can do anything you set your mind to. You are still young enough to play in the 14 age level tournaments so I would get working hard and playing tournaments as soon as possible. You can do this !! I believe in you :)

14 ain’t late. That’s when a lot of people start, and that’s also when people tend to start getting stronger and faster. I started at 11, stopped for two years, and started again a few months ago so I’m basically a beginner :)

Im 15 and I know that you have started playing at 15 like I did have you had any national success?

I did not achieve national success unfortunately, I played mainly high school and in my local area in South Florida. Perhaps my approach to tennis could have been more focused on reaching out to many coaches and actively searching to play nationally, so maybe that will help you! I am currently focusing on my university studies, and still play, but I'm looking to share what I've learned through this experience with the next generation of tennis players so if you have any questions just reach out! hahah it's ok don't worry about it. So i started playing tennis at 15 and then tournaments shortly thereafter, but it was never consistent or to much success. I needed more to time to learn the strokes and really how to play. So this year I'm changing that and playing at least 2 tournaments a month. I do play high school tennis, and coming up soon too so I'm really excited for 2018.
