Kanaeokana is proud to launch ʻIke ʻIkena, its new series of how-to videos featuring cultural practitioners sharing their knowledge in practical applications or out on location. The inaugural video features Keahi Piiohia at Paepae o He'eia giving a step-by-step description of how to do an ʻū paʻa lashing, used in lashing traditional hale (structures), mākāhā (fishpond sluice gates), waʻa (canoes), and more. The ʻū paʻa is one of the more versatile and sturdy lashings to learn, useful for all sorts of applications. With this ʻike, how will you ʻū paʻa?
Stay tuned for more ʻIke ʻIkena videos from Kanaeokana. Watch and share so that we can spread the ʻike.
