Your absolutely right about the barrel swivel looking like a tiny meal for baitfish. Ive had so many times on the water were a small bluegill or crappie comes up and smashes my swivel. Great tip Ike

Mike I just went out on a terrible rainy day here in Northern Indiana with this exact rig, and caught 4 nice fish. The trailer hook is pure gold, without that, I wouldn't have caught any of the fish. Wow, best video I've seen on rigging-tips for fluke-style baits -- and I've watched several. I fished a Zoom Super-fluke for hours this morning and can attest to the fact that they really twist the line up so the swivel trick is something I'll try right away. Also, I just ordered some VMC Bobber Stops. Another video showed that bass tend to eat the fluke bait head first, so I'll have to see how much this helps.

You went off the rails with your fish philosophy of chase instinct. But...you did make me smile. I used to tip, ducking still do... but, I love to tip a rebel craw with an inch of nightcrawler because I think that bass sees a craw stealing a snack, and it makes him all antsy pantsy. Totally tracked, and agree on twist, drift influence of a bigger swivel. You’re fun, Ike. A bit hyperbolic, but you see it.

Great tips, Mike. All my life, I've fished TX clubs, 32 boats on big TX stained waters. Now, I've moved to Washington, fishing WA clubs, 32 boats on tiny, super clear, 1000 acre lakes. Great info and tricks but i was wondering if the bass only gets hooked on the treble and since there is no bobber stop on the side towards the barb could the treble come off the hook (losing the fish and also leaving the treble in it's mouth)?

So about the barrel swivel, does it go through the guides well without destroying them? And I here from other people that more knots means a better chance for break offs, what knots would you recommend for tying your leader line to the barrel swivel? Great video, I learned a lot!

No, a swivel like that will NOT pass through a tip-top. I guess Ike must keep the leader short; like under 5 feet. Still a pain to cast.

What knot are you using for your fluro to swivel? Been trying this technique and had the line break right below the know on the swivel side 3 separate occasions now, really trying not to burn the fluro either using the G-man knot and palomar. . Using seguar 12b fluro and 10b braided power pro. But i have proven these tips work great! caught several nice fish already with it. (p.s. the line snapped on casting one time as well, palomar may have been my own doing with kinking the line, the other time it just snapped on a hookset)
