Frogenius W. Dimensional lumber 2 inches thick by 4 inches wide by 8 or more feet long. Pine or red oak 2x4s are ridiculously cheap and adaptable, and to my mind would be a better choice in a project like this-- at least for the structural bits.

As everything in this video except the language of the speaker is Swiss 800 swiss francs for this (in switzerland) isn't bad at all. Why they didn't make that clear though I'm not sure. If you look at the language on the website: it's german. the price is in chf (swiss francs) and the plugs next to the bed are swiss as well. Living expenses in switzerland are high, but these guys clearly have no idea that that is not necessarily the case elsewhere. quite embarassing as a swiss person myself.

The use of IKEA furniture made this DIY project not only pointlessly expensive, but also somewhat unsafe and not durable for the long haul. That being said, I appreciate all DIY projects and I like the idea of this. I think that different materials can be used to bring down the cost significantly and make this far more durable. Personally, I wouldn't add carpet because I have pets so it would make things more difficult to maintain, but I don't think I would like this project nearly as much without making the hard surface more comfortable in some way.

Waste of money. why place expensive IKEA cabinets under a bed? Stuffs not usable now. Oh yeah cause this is a fricking #ad for ikea.

I dig this, bc your clothes can be put into those draws if there's enough, and i actually sleep on the floor bc i dont like to sleep in bed. I have smh thats thinner than mattress, usually its put over the mattress for it to be more comfy. I just put that on the floor and sleep. Its like sleeping on three blankets. Its not completely sleeping on floor and its not too soft so i dont fall into it like u do into mattress, your spine is straight.

I would've liked to see a more practical use of the cabinets under the platform, tbh. But overall, it looks good.

Ikea is one of the best assets to the modern world

You can also find re-sellers online of Ikea cabinets from people moving or no longer needing it in order to save you some money. That way you can also plan out how you really want yours to look. Just one idea 💡
