IKEA Gunnlaug curtain test and comparison - can it really dampen noises?

IKEA recently added a new product to its range: the Gunnlaug sound-absorbing curtain. According to the description, it effectively dampens everyday noises. We compared the Gunnlaug curtain with a blackout curtain and tested its noise insulation effect.

Thanks for the measurements! It helped me since I'm now choosing curtains for my new music studio. By the way, I would like to point the focus on one detail: the curtains are sound-absorbing, not insulating. This means that it's not the right solution for your needings. Sound-absorbing material is used to reduce echoes and reverbs caused by the sound waves bouncing on the walls of a room. It's not meant for blocking sound waves spreading between two different rooms. Thank you for your feedback! We haven‘t tested the curtain for traffic noise. Till it‘s absorbing echo, and won‘t block noises, I guess it’s probably not the most effectiv choice, but a nice one - even with some sound absorbing qualities. However if you try the curtain, please give me an update! ;) Habe a nice day!

Wie ich das hier lese erwarten einige wohl wirklich eine Verbesserung ... so ein Vorhand ist vielleicht als Gardinenersatz zu gebrauchen eine Verbesserung braucht ihr nicht erwarten dafür ist das Material einfach zu dünn man sollte es viel mehr als ein Zusatz sehen wenn man noch andere Maßnahmen ergreift oder um vielleicht etwas mehr Hall aus einen Raum zu nehmen ... wer wirklich etwas gegen Lärm machen möchte muss schon zu ganz anderen Dingen greifen vorallen zu dickeren und schwereren Materialien ... mein Tipp hierfür holt euch dicken Moltonstoff und eine Packdecke/Umzugsdecke und verpackt diese Decke in dem Molton, vernäht das ganze und hängt das auf dafür braucht man zwar eine stabile Gardinenstange, dafür hilft das wirklich nur halt nicht bei tiefen Geräuschen wie LKW brummen oder ähnlichem ...

welches Modell ist der Verdunklungsvorhang?

Ist das ein Messgerät mit Kalibrierung? Problem mit dem reinen Abspielen der Sounds ist auch, dass sich im Gegensatz zum Körperschall der Trittschall auch über das Mauerwerk überträgt. Bei den Vorgängen heißt es, je schwerer, desto mehr Absporbtion. Und diese Akustik-Stoffe natürlich auch ein Vielfaches dieses dünnen Ikeastoffes. Trotzdem netter Test.

Hä ? das ist ein Wald und Wiesen Chinamessteil, gibt es unter zig Namen für 40 bis 150 Euro da hätten die auch eine Handyapp nehmen können das währe genau so viel wert ...

Wo ist das Problem. Ich will doch nicht wissen, ob das wirklich 51.3 db sind. Ich will unter gleichen Vorrausetzungen ein Ergebnis, sprich eine Vergleichbarkeit. Das kann ich mit und ohne Kalibrierung!

Well, I guess it wouldn’t be the best choice for this purpose, as it could only dampen the noise coming from outside a little bit, but not block it.

Wie soll der Vorhang Innengeräusche signifikant reduzieren? Er ist sicher dazu gedacht Aussengeräusche zu dämpfen!

Ja, das sollte gut funktionieren! Allerdings wird da ein einziger Vorhang das Problem nicht lösen, eventuell mildern.
