It’s a good idea. The execution could be better. Probably prime and paint all the door components before assembly, less messy and easier to touch up. The joints between the trim pieces on the doors don’t really look good. If wood putty was used to cover them, then they weren’t sanded to a seamless surface very well. But yeah, if you’ve never done that before- it looks ok.

I love that you kept the inside white. To keep the black burlap from getting dusty, try covering the burlap with painter's tape and paper or plastic. Thank you for showing us your process.

Your sander had a place to add a hose for dust collection system; a cheap shop vac works wonders. After sanding, I'd use a vacuum with soft brush attachment to clean off the surfaces if necessary, and then some tac cloth to pick up any remaining dust. No water needed and WAY less dust in your environment.

It turned out really well. It might have been easier to paint the timber strips before putting them on the door and just touching up any spots where you put nails. I'm going to watch the Kitchen Island one next as I want to try that for my kitchen.
@Craftydust3 жыл бұрын
I thought about it too but I thought it would get really messy with the wood filler. Looking back at it, think it would have definitely been easier to paint at least the inner sides that look towards the burlap. Hope you enjoy the kitchen island one 🥰✨

This is awesome. Thank you for the how to! Is that black paint essentially a wall paint? I'm getting BIN primer but struggling to find black paint that would go over it. I assumed I needed furniture/wood paint?
@Craftydust2 жыл бұрын
I am using wood paint 😊 wall paint dries matte and leaves fingerprint marks when dry (it gets dirty easier/faster). I used Tricorn black by SW here but I would highly recommend Onyx by Benjamin Moore, I found it needs less coats to achieve a truly black finish..

Nice work. Some suggestions anyway. Why would you not build the door framing first then paint it and glued on the panel? Secondly cutting the fabric in size would not raise the frame. Btw. You can buy the kallax in black too :)
@Craftydust2 жыл бұрын
Yes, it does come out in black as well, but I found this white one on sale. Besides, even if I got it in black, I'd still have to paint it so that the DIYed doors match the shade and finish of the unit.. There's different ways you could build the doors, this one is just my take on it 😊✨

@Craftydust3 жыл бұрын
Thank you ✨ I live in Cyprus and so there's a very limited amount of such DIY materials. I wanted something i could use on both MDF and laminate and such spray paint doesn't exist here (and I think it would be more expensive as well because I'd need a lot of spray cans)... unless you mean using a paint sprayer, which in this case I don't have one but I am planning to buy, I think it's much faster and offers a better paint result!

It’s a 19.38 min video and you didn’t actually get to the hack until 4.25. That’s annoying. Not sure how jewelry factored into a furniture diy. There was A LOT of extra talking that made this video about 10 mins to long. Let’s get to the point of the video. I don’t feel like people have the time of patience to sit through extraness in 2022.
