Thanks for sharing this with us ! tbh though…with supports repositioned in that manner it would seem that the entire weight of the cabinet is still only going to be supported by the pins and dowels in the top panel as the support brackets only make contact at the point… vs mounted to the inner side panels which in turn supports the top panel and the shelves. If not using rail (which has ability to hit the studs), probably best to use strongest drywall anchoring system available AND consider mounting additional support bracket(s) lower down on the inner side panels for added security. JMHO…..maybe I’m wrong.

Hi sir, This is a great video. I apparently have this BESTA cabinet, which is the "older" version. On these types, you have to use the metal brackets. This video helped me so much, because I was given the cabinet for free, but the metal brackets were missing... Now I know which ones I need. I was just wondering, I'm going to be attaching this to concrete, so will use the direct screw method. Only problem is the cabinet is assembled and I will need to install the brackets after purchase. Do you think it is possible to install the brackets after the cabinet is assembled? How many are needed? Thanks again

Hi there, Thanks for watching my video and the ultra-kind feedback. When I make a video and put it out there I never know what the impact will be. O'boy sounds like you have some challenges ahead of you after been gifted a free gift. I'm not familiar with the brackets at all, but I'm sure there videos on KZbin that will hopefully show you how to use them. My initial concern would be the concrete wall that you will be attempting to attach the unit to. You will need a masionary concrete drill bit and the right size concrete screws to be safe. Installing the bracket after the cabinet has been assembled may also be problematic as you my need to get into some tight spaces to work with the bracket(s). Hi there, Thanks for the feedback. Since you have a brick wall, you most likely will need a power drill with a masionary bit. You would need masionary screws (blue) and a ratchet to help drive in the screws. Normal screw driver won't do it. Drill the holes almost as long as the screw that would be in the wall. Having the brick is easier to find a place to hang the unit but it could be a little more work drilling the holes to attach. Hopefully that helps🙂👍🏾

Hi there, Thanks for watching my video and feedback. As for the suspension rail based on what I see there is not enough debth and height with these units to allow you amply screw Into the unit safely. You would probably be screwing into the body of the unit but with the back panel removed. This would be on the upper section of the unit. At any rate you MUST screw the the suspension rail into the wood wall studs. As seen in the video I used the wall wood studs and used a single bracket (s) system to attached the unit from the upper end. If you are convinced that the bracket would work, remember Safety First, before you try it. Hopefully my response was helpful ☺️👍🏾

Hello there! thanks to your video I'm confident that I can do this in my NYC apt so, cannot thank you enough! but may I ask some clarification about the process? you have answered this already but I just want to make sure. The first two end screws that you drill on the wall to mount the unit on min15:00 , did you use regular screws without anchors? and was that only to set the unit into place so that then you can change the position of the brackets? 2nd: did you only move the middle brackets to where the studs are? or all of them to where the studs are? 3rd: the bracket has 3 holes, when you relocated the brackets to the stud, did you used the IKEA screws for the top part that attaches to the unit with 2 screws? and then a longer screw for the lower single hole? and are the brackets that easy to move? I apologize for all these questions if you have time to answer them it would be os so much help.

Hi there, Thanks for watching my video and I'll try and answer your questions the best I can. Q1: That was based on the initial instructions. You will notice that the instructions do not mention plugs nor does it come with any! It the end they will Not hold. I noticed the unit slowly slipping some time after before it fell and secured it with the bench as you see in the video. Q2: I moved All the brackets to where the studs were just to be sure it was safe. You are better off going straight to find the studs and mark the screws there to attach the unit. Q3: For the upper end of the brackets I used the original Ikea bracket and screws But for the Wall studs I used some slightly longer wood self tapping screws that I had left over from another project. Hopefully that answers your questions and helps you with this project. Good Luck and let me know if you have any further questions 👍🏾😄

If you did how did you do it? Thank you for any insight and for the idea in the first place! All the best!

Hi there, Thanks for watching my video and the kind feedback /questions. Question 1. It was a bit of both. In the middle of the unit I did not use the backing, so it was a direct screw into the top of the unit first with the original screws. Then I got longer 3" screws to drive into the wall students. On the outer ends once I found the studs, I screwed the bracket into the top of the unit first then through the backing into the studs. Marking things is always a good idea. I used new 3" screws, the originals are not long enough to read the studs. I would recommend that you pre-drill part way into the stud(s) before attempting screw into the stud using a cordless drill and finish tightening a with manual screw driver. Question 2. For the top I used the original screws, but I predrilledinto the top of the unit to create an opening. I also used the original brackets. Hopefully that helps. Also a big thank you for the to help me grow my channel👍🏾😀

@@TowneBlvdTiy thank you for the info! In the end I got it sorted out. Predrilling small screws and pilot holes for the larger screws ended up necessary. Then I added a couple extra brackets underneath as one up top was unable to be placed. All in all, thank you so much! Great video and response. Liked and subbed

Hi are you referring to the doors? or can you tell me what time in the video you would expect to use them.? For the door, I did not use one of the Plungers as it was optional for the closing. Please let me know.

Hello! Thanks for the video! Very helpful. One question? The middle space is like that? or you just dont install a door?
@TowneBlvdTiy3 жыл бұрын
Hi there, Thanks for watching my video. The unit does not come with doors, there are sold separately. I did have 3 but only used 2 in the end. I left it open to get to the HDMI cable box in the middle. It was also good I did that as there was no door in the way when my kids wanted to hook up their video games or computer to the TV. How many doors are used is up to you and the look you want to achieve. Hopefully that helps 😊👍🏾

How long do stud screws need to be then can 3 inch work
@TowneBlvdTiy3 жыл бұрын
Hi, I'm not sure of your situation but a 3" screw would be more than fine. You may want to drill into the stud somewhat to help with the screwing efforts. Hopefully that helps.

For those who want to hang a 3 door IKEA Besta unit on the wall using the suspension rails, you need to buy a 2 door and a 1 door and join them together. The one piece 3 door unit, like in this video, is not designed to be wall hung. Unfortunately there is minimal Information from IKEA about this. I got caught out buying the one piece 3 door unit and will need to do some slight modification to make it accept the rails.

Hi there, Thanks for watching my video and the feedback. Yes, this unit will not install on the wall if you follow the IKEA instructions to a tee. There is no mention of a suspension rail in any of the instructions, so using one is a user's choice. Anyway you look at it it's still a modification (and complicated one at that). Mine is still on the wall 2 years later and is still as strong as the day I installed it. Good luck your project and drop me back a message to let me know how it turns out. Thanks again for watching my video and the subport to help me grow my channel 👍🏾😊

Instructions show both floor free standing and wall mounting options and these supplies L shaped brackets are precisely for wall mounting. It’s just that the locations of the brackets doesn’t conform to most stud locations. You could always brace the wall from inside with a supporting piece of wood behind the drywall and that requires opening a whole large enough to do so.

Thank you. I was so confused looking for the holes in the back of the unit to attach the bracket that hooks into the railing.

Hi there, Thanks for the heart kind feedback and the subscription. The ones from IKea I felt were just a little too short so I used a few new ones I had from other products, about 3" Because they are so long you should pre-drill into the wood studs a bit. You can use the same brackets from Ikea though. Hopefully that helps. 😄👍🏾

Installing it now... as I was reading the "instructions" I thought this can't be held up by only 4 screws, with ikea telling you not to even anchor them... while the 2 door unit has a Suspension Rail, go figure. Then 1 of the 5 comments on ikea saying it fell off their wall with wall anchors. So eff the ikea instructions, find a proper stud. ;)
@TowneBlvdTiy3 жыл бұрын
Hi there, thanks for the feed back. Yep, did not trust anything other than the wall stud after I noticed it slipping after the initial install. It's just amusing that IKEA does not give plugs or instructions to anchor this to studs 🤣 Good luck with the install 👍🏾

Hey Guys, does someone knows if i can put on plasterboard wall this besta ?
@TowneBlvdTiy2 жыл бұрын
Hi there thanks for watching my video and feedback question. Plasterboard aka drywall by itself to support this heavy kind of wall unit is a no go. You risk the unit falling and hurting you or falling and damaging your floor and the unit itself. You definitely need wall studs to attach the unit to to be the safest bet. Hopefully that answers your question. Thanks for watching my video and the support to grow my channel 👍🏾😀

I do IKEA installs for a living. I won't do these due to this ridiculous bracket system. They are for holding furniture back to a wall only to prevent tipping over, such as is the case in their PAX wardrobes. Utilising them to float a unit on a wall like this is dangerous, even if they are fixed into studs. The 2 small screws into the unit itself through each bracket make it, in my opinion, unsafe. Even at my local IKEA store, these units are only displayed with legs on the floor. Go figure? I'd also be interested to know if your unit is still actually hanging on the wall? Placing the brackets as you did here transfers all the load to the pin and plastic cams under the top panel. I wouldn't recommend this modification to anyone. Their other BESTA cabinets use the suspension rails so why they designed this unit as they have is beyond me.
@TowneBlvdTiy Жыл бұрын
Hi there, thanks for watching my video and the great feedback. To answer your question up front, Yes, the unit is still in place and is as strong as the day I put it in. The unit does come with the instructions on how to attach it to the wall but if you follow them to a tee your unit will come crashing to the floor in minutes later. There is no mention of a bracket system or the studs. I know from the installation of the Tv above the unit (which is still in place, I have a video for that too) that you need Studs to support this kind of weight. The use of the studs is the only way to go in my opinion. I used the same metal brackets that they provided with longer screws to reach the studs, the plastic cappers were not modified. The screws into the top of the unit is not an issue size and strength wise. Since you are close to IKEA you probably can probably communicate to them to clean up the instructions before someone gets hurt. The designers probably needs to install the product and do a QA check afterwards☺️ Hopefully that helps. Thanks again for watching my video and the subport to help me grow my channel 👍🏾😊

Hi there Thanks for watching my video and feedback. Sure maybe this video art style is not you and everyone. I get that, I think my voice sounds weird. Is there a particular section that you want me to explain? Music is hard these days. KZbin will put halt strikes against my video with copyright violations if I use popular music. So I'm left to scrange around for music that won't get me banned. Thanks for watching, Cheers 👍🏾
