thanks a lot, good to know that they are using the sensirion sensor

does it work with matter ?

tVOC is the indication of change in the concentration of particles over time. However it's not very clear how it's averaged yet. The arrow indicates increase / stable / decrease.

WHEN will you "look further into the sensor module"? I.e., when will we see the rest of the teardown?
@FrancescoF9 ай бұрын
It’s probably going to be a destructive teardown, so I’ll either wait for it to stop working or when a new one comes around. So far it’s proving very useful

Thanks for opening it up. I'm looking for places to hide a LD2410 and now I know there is a 5V and ground pin available, I found a place to hide one 😄

To let display backlight ON just hold big button on the top and you will enter in to the settings menu. There are 3 backlight intensity and auto turn off option. And more staff like F°/C°...

thanks for that video. came here to find out if it still has the annyoing fan noise - and thank god it does not. so i'm probably going to by it in the next few days.

Thanks for the teardown. It's actually very cheap for the sensor used. Now get out the computer and capture some communication from the processor. The top header is probably for the esp32 module. My guess would be that there you'll find the connectivity code.

Thanks for this teardown, did you find the TVOC sensor?, and if it doesn't have one, where are they getting the information from?... I was thinking of getting this to do a teardown, but I guess I don't have too now, but would still like to know where the tVOC sensor is.
@Novecento99_10 ай бұрын
I just bought one and did not open yet, but I think it's just the "direction" of the PM measurement
@Outside-In.10 ай бұрын
@@Novecento99_ I looked up the Sensirion SEN54 datasheet, and it says the VOC and NOx sensor is inside, but I don't take anything at face value as I have seen too many fakes, and getting ready to review two more fakes. It appears that the tVOC reading is only available through the app for this device, which is another downside to this device. I don't trust anything I cannot see, so it would be nice to see inside that sensor - to see if what is said to be inside - is actually in there. Although, Sensirion is a highly popular company, so it is more than likely that the VOC sensor is inside as it says, but still would like to know for sure. I may have to purchase this for a test and review. I am going to start putting all new monitors that I test and review inside a purified environment - just to see how accurate the PM sensors are, and to see if they actually go down to 0 in a purified environment. Out of all the monitors I have tested and reviewed, there is only one that actually shows zero in a purified environment (the Hotkrem), so that means that there are not a whole lot of these types of monitors on the market that are actually accurate, and mostly it is because they are not properly calibrated at the manufacture side when produced, which means that the consumer is getting a less than accurate device in most cases...

@@Novecento99_ it is just direction, my limited understanding is that its more difficult to measure specific amount of TVOC than API

Is this the sweet spot for "decent" level of accuracy for a particulate sensor?
@FrancescoF Жыл бұрын
Haven’t seen many teardown of the competitors but seems to be a very good option for “home” use
@kallan2255 Жыл бұрын
The Sensirion Sen5x sensors are absolute best in class. Light years ahead than what was in the Vindriktning. Not only for accurancy but lifespan (The one in the Vindriktning has poor accuracy and only have a lifespan of a few years IRRC. The Sensirion is rated for 10 years at a fantastic accuracy. TLDR just get this and don't look back.

Thanks a lot for the video. Good info. By the way I am not aware of another HomeKit enabled air quality sensor for this (low) price.

The particle sensor is much better in this version. It is a laser-based sensor that measures with high precision.
@Drinknewcoke Жыл бұрын
Do you know if this Sen54 more precise than sds011 ? I build a sensor with sds011 for sensor.community project and i see a big difference with this IKEA sensor.

Nice! I wonder if any custom PCBs may help? Would love to sponsor free prototype services and reach any YT collab together. (PCBWay zoey)
