Hey, its me Jamie. I am a customer at one of your Ikeas. I have been trapped here for 2 years and the employees dont have faces. When the lights go out they started to hit me until i was knocked out. I woke up in a base made of tables and such. Its been a while since i seen the exit doors. There are meatballs and burgers layed out the entire store. I dont think this place has an end.

I think it depends on your walls. Some countries has the house made out of bricks instead of woods and drywalls.

@@MASViper If your walls were bricks, I don't think any amount of tapping would help. You wouldn't be tapping on it to find "studs" in the first place. xD

@@brucebobtrotter2170 Depends on the stud finder and the types of walls. In my case, I've had no trouble locating studs behind my drywall. More expensive stud finders will have higher accuracy and deeper penetration, some can even differentiate between studs and live conduits so you don't accidentally drill into cables.

More injuries and deaths will be caused by the overlong screws and drywall anchors (6cm) that Ikea demands for many of its products. In the United States, screws of that length can destroy wires, causing electrical fires.

My father was a carpenter and when I was a young girl he showed me how to find the studs by using a hammer or banging it on with my fist. As you are doing it, but the best way now is to use a stud. Finer, and then you will be more accurate. Especially like me. I'm a senior now and I can't do that anymore.😅

This guide is almost misleading/ incomplete The tap/knock only goes so far. Depending on when/ how a property was constructed. Without a wall scanner, consumers can hit, electrical and other tubing/pipework which won't be found using tapping/ knocking for hollow spots.

He is right. Safety first--which is why we're securing our furniture to wall after all, without a stud finder, one can drill into wires.

I came here looking for that same answer cause I’m ordering something that says it has to be attached. From the looks of this video, it looks optional to me. That piece looked pretty sturdy and standing on it’s own. I’m thinking they had issues that resulted in furniture falling on people and provide the wall mount to avoid lawsuits. Like if someone overloaded the top drawer of a dresser and the weight moving forward in the drawer could tip the dresser over or something.

For safety, so that kids don't get crushed if they mess with the furniture. Accidents like that happen a lot.
