Ikigai (ee-key-guy) is a Japanese concept that combines the terms iki, meaning “alive” or “life,” and gai, meaning “benefit” or “worth.” When combined, these terms mean that which gives your life worth, meaning, or purpose. Ikigai is similar to the French term “raison d'etre” or “reason for being.”

Ten rules (from conclusion): 1. Stay active don't retire. 2. Take it slow. 3. Don't fill your stomach (80% rule). 4. Surround yourself with good friends. 5. Get in shape for your next birthday. 6. Smile. 7. Reconnect with nature. 8. Give thanks (to your ancestors, nature). 9. Live in the moment. 10. Follow your IKIGAI.

So so good. What stuck with me most were the concept of eating 2/3 of the way til’ full or 80% capacity and the pleasant introduction of anti fragility : “get rid of what makes you fragile” 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 It’s towards the end, but this was a massively relaxing and particularly enjoyable listen. Thank you for this resource! ❤

I've started twice to listen to this book, one time in Spanish, the other in English. I have ADHD and more and more I've been feeling I have no self control to achieve anything and more and more unmotivated to pursue anything, because I don't really know what I want. Well, I know one thing I desperately want: to have both a sense of passion and purpose for achieving.

was filling the documents for work while listening to this, and as much as i can say… You can pursue your ikigai even though some parts of your life seem terribly boring. It’s not true that you are always happy to meet “every day” or greet the other neighbor in your town. I still can not understand how Japanese are doing what they are doing… This brilliant level of self-discipline is something i would envy my whole life.
