Hi IK Multimedia! Started using this beautiful unit and having a question. In TONEX Software I've found a tone model which sounds awesome, however, after importing this tone model to Tonex pedal and listeting it through the headphones output, it doesn't sound the same, the audio quality not even nearly as good as on a computer. Am I missing something?

How much gain control is there? For example, on some modelling amps I have played with a model based on, say, a JTM45, the amount of gain on the model is way too high, and there is no way to get a clean tone without leaving the gain on .5 or lower.

About the missing effects loop in this Tonex unit, if you have a HXFX or a Helix, but the Tonex unit into the Send and Return of the HXFX/Helix and then add an FX block. That's where the Tonex will sit in your chain. I do this already with other pre-amp pedals.

No effects loop puzzling considering you guys make great pedals that I use in my effects loop! Old fenders and Marshalls no effects loop, but you could have it here.

TONEX Pedal is not a multifx pedal it is meant to be the "amp" portion of your pedalboard so a loop would not be necessary as you'd typically put drive/boost/distortion/etc before TONEX Pedal and time-based or modulation and similar after just like you would in a normal chain. The fx loop is basically what you put in front of and after TONEX Pedal.

Hi, I have this problem where as soon as I use a Hi gained amp ( such as a rectifier) I experience a lot of feedback noise, but when im using the ToneX app, I'm not experiencing this feedback problem with the exact same presets. Note: This is only on hi gained amps, not crunchy amps. I also use the noise reducer from the tonex pedal WITH my own noise reducer, but this will only cut the signal off after 2 seconds or so to make it feel natural and not chopped off. I'm using my tonex pedal in a guitar pedal board so i have no clue if that could cause the issue. Any thoughts?

Can the oedal be used as an interface to connect a ipad to in order to play amplitube 5 through the headphone jack? Can you include in your reply a link to the pedal playing through a tube amp with the speaker model of the pedal turned off?

The only recommendation to send to a tube amp would be if you were using stomp Tone Models. I don't recommend sending an amp/amp+cab/stomp+amp type of Tone Model through a tube amp and cabinet since you'd be sending a Tone Model of an amp and cab through another amp and cab. To connect TONEX Pedal as an interface on an iPad you'd need a Camera Connection Kit as it is a class compliant audio interface (and you'd need to make sure your TONEX Pedal is plugged in to a power source).

I shall buy the first kind of unit that comes out with an effects loop so I can run my effects between my amp and cab sim and play through my headphones. Without the effects loop these units like the iridium , UA pedals and this is pretty useless to me as I cannot add my delays , reverbs, etc between the amp emulation and cap sim. If there are specific directions to capture without I would appreciate it. I tried to do it without, and it did not work. TONEX Pedal would be placed on a pedalboard with drive/boost/fuzz before and time-based and modulation effects after, so it would be great live. Many also put it in the loop on a multifx unit, so it would not need an effects loop in that situation either.

@@ikmultimedia Your argument is not very valid, if I play directly on the soundboard using an IR and a capture + H9 eventide the effects are no longer as interesting, in my case the tonex does not become interactive for the live performance due to its dependence on a multifx.

In your case since you're not using something like the H90 that has a proper loop to put the TONEX Pedal in, you'd simply use TONEX Pedal with the H9 using the 4-cable method. An effects loop on TONEX Pedal would offer nothing when using a unit like the H9 or other multifx units, and again putting TONEX Pedal into the loop of a multifx is common and works great.

Add some effects, an FX loop and an expression pedal input to control volume/wah. That will be your ticket in with the big dogs, Axe FX, Kemper, etc...if not fly over them for the average user, (in terms of sonic quality at least).

Reading the comments is somewhat amusing. So many “Yeh but, it doesn’t …” I wouldn’t be surprised to read “Yeh, but it doesn’t make my coffee in the morning.” I’m exaggerating of course, to make point. It’s a widget that does ABC. To suggest that it would be cool to also do E and F. Ok. But to get snotty and complain that it does not do E and F, and maybe G and H too, it gets kinda silly.

Everyone needs to stop asking for an effects loop so they can get in front of the cab sim. Order makes no difference on these units. These aren’t real amps, with real preamps and real power amps. As another commenter stated below cab sims are pretty much just EQ. I had this same fear with my torpedo cab trying to setup a rig with stereo modulation effects and wanted the torpedo cab at the end of my chain but could not due to the lack of stereo in and out. I swapped the torpedo with my modulation effects and got the stereo effects I wanted and it didn’t change the sound at all. If you are going out to real cabs, you can just turn the cab sim off. I say try it before writing it off.

TONEX Pedal is not a multifx pedal and uses amp captures so it is made to be on your pedalboard with drive/distortion/boost before it and modulation/time effects after. Or using a 4-cable method on many of the multifx units available. It works wonders in these situations as was intended.

Guitar processors have been outfitted with MIDI since the 80s :) You can control many parameters via MIDI, especially when you have other pedals and processors that support MIDI. Some performances have complex switching via MIDI for the guitarist or even shared MIDI switching and synching for the whole band (for example some bands will make sure their delay times are precisely matched and start at exactly the same time to have a cohesive sound).
