Your atmospherics get better & better & in this vid one can all but smell the damp earth & the dawn ground mist in August. Also, I like the instant when the number two pilot kisses the river's face with his left wingend! I note these IL-2's are early birds, before "Uncle Joe" okayed resumed production of the plane with the gunner's position.

This and your Kanonenvogel were the first ever two videos that I've seen of Il-2 BoS. No better ad has ever been made, I originally thought these were some extremely well-made CGI short films, couldn't believe at the time that a game can look so great and have such good physics. It may feel a little old today, almost a decade later, but I finally got it. It still does hold up, either way, and it still looks good for today's standards. Tho heck, what am I talkin', even good old Il-2 1946 is still the best WW2 sim in some aspects to this day, it's kind of funny. But either way, thank you for your cinematic artwork, it's been a joy to watch.

At 23:00 when you were straffing it was like that scene in Black Hawk Down when the MH-6 Little Birds come in with their mini-guns in tandem and when the first one rolls away, the second immediately starts firing. Ha! Ha! Recipient of the "Hero of the Soviet Union", T. Kuznetsov, survived the crash of his Il-2 in 1942 when shot down returning from a reconnaissance mission. Kuznetsov escaped from the wreck and hid nearby. To his surprise, a German Bf 109 fighter landed near the crash site and the pilot began to investigate the wrecked Il-2, possibly to assist Kuznetsov, or to look for souvenirs. Thinking quickly, Kuznetsov ran to the German fighter and used it to fly home, barely avoiding being shot down by Soviet fighters in the process

Kuznetsov I have find in award list is starshina ("Company Sergeant Major") Tikhon Petrovich Kuznetsov - the sapper (engineer) of the 219th separate battalion of engineering barriers of the 44th engineering special brigade of the 3rd Ukrainian Front.

The most interresting weapon a Il 2 Sturmovik could carry was 100 little bombs of 1,5 kilo each. And when all released over a german tank some of them would hit the thin top armour and the turret hatch. And then Fritzie was not so happy with his job anylonger. Hah ho ho heh he hah hah.

During the Battle of Stalingrad, attack aircraft did not fly without escort fighters. Moreover, there was a strictest order on the criminal responsibility of a fighter pilot for shooting down an IL-2, if his actions to cover the attack aircraft were deemed erroneous, according to the current instructions. It got one weakness according to a German Ace, the cooler I think below the fusalage is weak. It is not armored. The rest are armored . Small caliber machine gun if fighter plane is not enough to penetrate the skin of the bomber. Besides it is too heavy that trying to manuever at low altitude causes it to crash. Maybe trying to prevent a German fighter to target its cooler intake, and its bomb slung underneath the wings it flies at low altitude.

Impressive ! But we also see that we are not in 1941 and camerade ship has deteriorated further. In Rudel's day no emergency landed crew was left behind, no way ! not so today. That surviving IL-2 could have landed and take up the stranded pilot easily in that large cockpit. Also attacking the same airfield trice always from the same direction was probably less than great tactics, the more they almost got as much as they handed out. Those RS82 rockets must be filled with mini-nukes as the IL-2's 20 or 23 mm bullets easily rivalling a 88mm shell.

The Russians lost 16000 IL2s, almost the entire production run of a typical fighter, in the last two years of the war alone. This was a suicide mission. Surviving 5 missions was a feat. Surviving 10 qualified you as a Hero of the Soviet Union. They were so cheaply constructed the gunner didnt even have a seat to sit on, just a leather strap.

Thank you very much! To make a really good iL-2 video you need to create your own mission, fly and record it to the track using in-game tool. Then go to iL-2\data\Tracks and make several copies of your record (both file and same-named folder), rename them. Then edit each of that tracks using in-game tools and cameras, and capture them to the video. Cut the best scenes from each video and use your imagination on how to stick them together.

Глупости, если истребители на этом аэродроме, то или взлетать не будут или рискуют быть сбитыми на взлёте, а если на другом - то могут не успеть. Ил-2 на данном приближались к аэродрому на очень малой высоте, постоянно меняя курс, поэтому вражеские посты определить объект атаки и не смогли.
