you know the FW190 has an ammo counter in the cockpit? those 4 vertical black tubes near the top have white lines and black/white circles above them, thats the ammo counter. outter 2 for cannon inner 2 for MG's. takes the guess work out of it. pretty sure you already knew that though. see em clearly at 10:37. at this point wouldnt every other pilot call you the Grim Reaper, anyone who flies with you dies, injured or captured aka never seen again.

Guess this is more exciting then the actual grim reality of day after day fights with large formations of B17’s and B24’s, escorted by P51’s etc that the Luftwaffe was actually facing at this time.

In the aftermath of Normandy and the retreat from France, a large potion of the LW's fighter force was committed to trying to provide some measure of air support for the German Army, which is why they weren't tangling with the 'Heavies'.

At 15:37, I see you were out of cannon ammo and down to about 20% of MG ammo. ( see the upper left corner of instrument panel for the ammo counter) Yet you still managed to flame the Spitfire sitting on the runway --- ah hum, managed to lose your canopy ---- must have been one of those Tempests, right? Definitely a sortie to write home about, Sebastian. Especially since you brought home your kite without a scratch (what canopy?) when the entire rest of the squadron flying the sortie were lost. But you're right, late 1944 must have been a nightmare for the Luftwaffe.

The fact that parachutes were banned for the RFC but not for the Germain forces? I wonder if anybody has done a study, would there have been a measurable difference in combat losses? Pretty sure the guy with altitude and no parachute might have given a robust response?'effing stupid would be my kneejerk response but remember this, there was no RAF, this was the flying corps of the RN and Captains were expected to go down with their ships? Believe it or not, they were too expensive just for johnny runaway to abandon, no parachute for you matey! (Yes, I appreciate the flawed logic) Still though, pax vobiscum.

7:57 - No mission results? It would have been nice to see what happened to the others. 11:46 - "That would explain why I wasn't catching them." REALLY? The Fw 190 A-8 had a top speed of 405 mph and the Spitfire XIV had a top speed of 441 mph. The Tempest was actually a bit SLOWER than the Spitfire, having a top speed of 435 mph. If you've been catching Spitfires in your A-8, the game is seriously screwed up.

Taff was able to catch those Spitfires up because they were Mk-IXs, not Mk-XIVs. The Mk-XIV Spitfire had square wingtips, rather than the iconic elliptical wingtip. The Fw 190 A8 Series was a good bit quicker than a Mk-IX Spitfire (405 mph for the 190 A8 and 380 mph for the Spitfire Mk-IX).

I wish they had more heavy bombers in this game it mostly medium bombers, I think the b26 shouldn't be so easy to shoot down

That B-26 took a lot of damage - the Fw 190 is a very heavily armed fighter, 2 machine guns and 4 cannons.

I think at this point, cause of losses and experience levels, you'd be flight leader by now. The game should adapt to this.

He's not an officer, he's an enlisted pilot, that's why. The Luftwaffe will pick an inexperienced Leutnant (2nd Lt.) with 1 kill to lead the squadron rather than an experienced Oberfeldwebel (master sergeant) with 30 kills.

@@paulb359 : The only way a Luftwaffe squadron commander in October 1944 can save the lives of his men is by avoiding combat with the enemy instead of seeking it out. And any squadron commander who does that more than once or twice will end up being arrested for cowardice and removed from command.

how does a veteran pilot with 100h of flight time only nab 4 kills and you have 30 kills with only 10 HOURS, they gotta beef the numbers up a tad imo lol
