Super breath control and coloratura. A splendid singer if not the most beautiful voice in the world!
@niklasdefries2 жыл бұрын
I would disagree on the most 'beautiful' voice in the world. There might be more 'beautiful' voices - maybe Wunderlich .. Bruce Ford .. Jerry Hadley? But the musicianship, the precision in the music, the craftsmanship of the technique and the use of the utter limits of ones voice, here Blake is an absolute champion!

very unusual break in his voice. not exactly pleasant. but technically a brilliant execution.
@dracher3 жыл бұрын
He was fond of showing of his high notes and his diminuendi, he would later develop a pulse under power as big as a fog horn, and yes, he had a tenor of some power. However he displays here that he is no Mozart singer, he allows the intrusuive asperate and rushes the runs. He is also using too much voice most of the time.Listen to Wunderlich, Tauber, Dermotta, Richard Crooks, etc.

Noone, noone has the phrasing and breath control this singer has. This is what singers used to do or were expected to do in Mozart's time!
@acting84742 жыл бұрын
@@stevexx868 You have the advantage here, I wasn't around in Mozart's time, so I have no idea what was expected. He appears to have a good control of breath, but he liberally uses rubato and races the ornimentations. He has, generally speaking, a poor Mozart technique.

GREAT fiato. However, I don't like his performance. He doesn't seem to understand what his character is going through in this aria. He begins the aria smiling.
@rugby8-Philadelphia2 жыл бұрын
Have to disagree about the smile/character To whom is he speaking, what exactly are the First Three Words? Smile and character intention are valid -- visual and vocal congruity
@josemiguel952 жыл бұрын
@@rugby8-Philadelphia His first three words are "Il mio tesoro intanto... andate a consolar": "In the meantime, go and console my beloved". He is not addressing to Donna Anna, but to the people around him. He is asking to go and console her in her grief. Her father has been murdered, she was about to be raped by Don Giovanni. Once again, I think there is no reason to smile.
@rugby8-Philadelphia2 жыл бұрын
@josemiguel95 Best move then, is probably that when you perform it - don't smile. I enjoy Rocky's approach to Ottavio, and as an acting teacher, I find his intent clear, and followed through

Fea voz y demasiado "rossiniano" en las agilidades, pero qué control del _fiato._ 1:40. Impresionante.
