I don't understand where the red triangle is in the bomb sight search calibration.
@heliflyr672 жыл бұрын
The triangle is located right of the bomb sight at the top of your screen. It is labeled "View Direction." it has a curved line with marks. -40 is at the left end and +40 at the right end. When the triangle is in the center it is set to 0 and each mark has a value of 5. So, if the triangle is 3 marks to the right of center it is +15, or 5 marks to the left of center would be -25. Below where it says "View Direction" is how you would move the red triangle left or right while in Target Search mode. Place your cursor over the grey circle with the red triangle below it and left click to move the View Direction triangle to the right or left. Remember that while in Target Search Mode you are moving the red triangle to match it to the position of the red triangle while in Bomb Mode. If you find that you can not move the triangle it may be because you are in Bomb Mode and need to switch to the Target Search Mode. If you look where it says "Mode" just to the right of the bomb sight, you will see a red triangle pointing either down or to the right. When the triangle is pointing right to what looks like a circle with an X in it, the bomb sight is in Bomb Mode. When the triangle is pointing down, the bomb sight is in the Target Search Mode.

This is the only time I have seen calibrating the target search sight. It makes sense... and it explains my need for last second adjustments in my limited bomber experience (from not calibrating it!). I learned something, thanks!

Great video man,Ive been playing this game both old and new for 20 years and I'm a decent player but level bombing is something Ive just never gotten really into it, not for lack of wanting to but just dont understand certain things but you explain everything very well,im one of those that needs to be explained things real slow but once i got them they are with me for life,lol, thank you.

What I'm missing is the telescope adjustment, you should be able to adjust the telescope angle (sideways and lengthwise) so that the bubble you can faintly see near the centre is actually centred. This is important as unlike norden this sight is not stabilised.

How is this the only level bombing tutorial I can find on KZbin? A few lines of text and lots of mouse swirling doesn't explain a lot.

If only I had the IQ to understand a word of what you said when it came to the wind heading and the use of the compass XD
@heliflyr673 жыл бұрын
Hi Cromwell the Synth, Don't beat yourself up over it. It made it more difficult than I should have. I new it would be the hardest part of the lesson. On the compass the plane is on 170 heading and the wind is in from 275 deg. That puts the wind off the right wing. The RED arrow on the Wind Angle Dial represents the wind. 275 - 170 = 105. Move the RED arrow down to 105. That gives you the relative wind direction to the plane. And that is it. The other stuff was just a lot of unneeded information I thought viewer could use to simplify the calculation. For EXP: Looking at the compass, the plane is heading 170 Deg and IF the wind is in from 330 Deg, you can just look at the compass and see that the wind is 20 deg off the right side of the compass arrow TAIL. So just move the Red arrow 20 deg to the right of the plane's tail to the 160 mark on the Wind Angle dial. 330 - 170 = 160. In the video looking at the Wind Angle dial, the wind is 105 deg off the plane nose or 75 deg off the plane tail ( 350 - 275 = 75 ). 350 is the opposite of the plane's heading of 170 deg. Here is another EXP: on the compass the plane is heading 285 deg and the wind is reported 025 deg @ 10 kts. (285 - 25 = 260) But the Wind Angle Dial does not have a 260 mark on it. Now you have to do this: ( 260 - 180 = 80 ) Now move the RED arrow to the 80 mark on the right side of the Wind Angle Dial. In this case, it would have been easier to go from the plane's tail at the 105 Deg on the compass and subtract the wind 025 deg ( 105 - 25 = 80 ). Test time. Plane is flying 225 deg on compass and wind is 010 deg @ 15 kts. what mark on the Wind Angle Dial would you put the RED arrow? Reply with your answer.

@@grahamshere The Wind Angle Dial does not have a 215 deg mark on it. It has 0 at the top and 180 at the bottom with both side counting down from 0 to 180. So where would the red arrow go, on the left or right side and on what mark?
@olekundbolek91602 жыл бұрын
@@heliflyr67 So the wind is roughly coming from behind and right side of the planes longitude or nose/ heading. 360°-225°+ 10° = 145°. That means the wind comes relative to the planes nose 145° right side. The tails heading is 225+/-180°= 45°. And 45°- 10°= 035°. So the wind relative heading from the tail is 035° from left.
@heliflyr672 жыл бұрын
@@olekundbolek9160 Yes, that is correct. The Red arrow will be moved to the 145 deg mark on the Wind Angle wheel, which is on the right side of the aircraft, 35 deg off the tail.
