IL6 Inhibitors: An Overview

IL6 Inhibitors are biologic medications used in the treatment of Rheumatoid Arthritis and other rheumatic conditions (e.g. Giant Cell Arteritis). Available IL-6 Blockers currently include Tocilizumab (Actemra) and Sarilumab (Kevzara). Learn more about this class of medication here.

That's it ....go straight to the expensive drugs. Why bother with the root causes.

Actually, methotrexate remains our gold standard treatment. Not expensive and works well for many. We are lucky to have newer biologics for those when our traditional meds don’t work for them. In those cases, data shows despite their expense, they are cost effective.
