The problem Ilaiyaraja facing is simply era misappropriation due to copyright, cassettes divident, record and label company share etc. During his peak the divident he got might be meager compared to nowadays, where AAR and Anirudh earn crores and ilaiyaraja earning less (simply performance issue; in his own words). if the laws and facilities available now had been available then in 80s, 90s ilayaraja might have had a better profit divident and secured his copyright claims, since he is helpless now he is lashing out in all direction.
