I remember when I got a job, I moved to another city, and spent a year there alone.. for me, my life was good, I was young.. But when my brother came home to visit me, he asked me if I was suffering in loneliness, I was offended and replied that I was doing great. The next day I asked him why he thought so, he told me he watched me while I played "Elephant" as we settled for the night. He said some things are evident by the type of music we listen to, more importantly, the way we sing it. I apparently lost my self and sang along even in the high pitches, as though I felt every word of it. To me it was normal, this is a masterpiece and that's how it is to be sung along. he refused, there was something wrong with me. Then I thought maybe he was right, I was lonely, but it was not like anyone could enter into that room and make me feel better. It's been 4 years now, and I just can't help get over this song. The same loneliness is lurking within.. But I don't regret it... We are all here for the human experience, and what better way to feel human than the existential feeling of being lonesome.

He is the fundamental difference between an artist and a musician. He is applying his craft in a cleansing way. You feel his music, I think that’s possible only because he truly felt/lived/was able to survive his experiences. It’s tragic really, friggin Shakespearean that this immensely talented man would much rather be growing grapes with his lovely wife and children than splaying his pain for all of us to see. Then his life’s mistakes and regrets wouldn’t place him on this peak of sorrow for him to climb over and over. I’m sorry for your pain, I hope your able to find true joy in this life. He was always afraid he'd lose her, and that fear pushed her away, but he never stopped loving her, even though that fear made it harder and harder to see. He's been going through all the stages of grief in his songs ever since, though it looks like he's slowly healing. I don't know as much about how Lisa is doing, but I hope she's okay. I don't think she ever stopped caring either. I just think she felt there was no longer a place for her.
