I may have problems with Ilia's antics outside the cage but his fight style is marvelous, one of the most complete fighters in the roster. Also when he drops the Connor act he seems to be a genuine guy. He could be more active though. Either way, I enjoy watching his career unfold.

This flow grappling skill and creativity is dope! I didn't do a deep dive into Max's background in the UFC vs Top 7 guys, but it doesn't seem like he faced well rounded UFC guys who were initially elite grapplers, prior to Ilia. Anyone know of say 2 Top 5 guys who're elite grapplers and well rounded? Korean Zombie. Ummm...is Arnold Allen ill with grappling? No. The most recent really ill grappler Max faced was Brian Ortega at UFC 231. When Max was champ, before Volk. Ilia is going to try to pressure Max, throw bombs, get the clinch, pressure Max while throwing bombs and mixing in takedowns. I still want Max to win, but it's pretty clear that Ilia has more tools to win this match. Volk can grapple well, he's shown an elite takedown game...but he's more likely to strike. I do think that both Max's takedown defense and his vulnerability to gnp are probably underestimated.
