I actually hate washing my face at the end of the day of wearing this foundation. Hours and hours after I've put it on, it is still gorgeous, my skin FEELS velvety - this is really Next Level stuff!

I use my fingers to apply it and then, once it dries down, I use a brush to buff it out. I have discovered that it does not play well with primers. It seems to “want” to be close to my skin. It really does seem to become one with my skin. It does not cake or settle into fine lines and wrinkles. It is great for my aging skin!

I just read about this on the whoorl blog and I ordered samples from the detox market so I can test the shades and the finish. I am very picky about foundation and I've yet to find a "non-conventional" one that works well for me. The closest I've come is the Jane Iredale pressed powder foundation. My HG is the By Terry Densillis foundation (which is very pricey). I'm excited to try this out!

LMAO OMG I JUST PICKED UP THIS FOUNDATION TODAY!!! I needed to find a replacement for my Vapour Beauty Soft Focus Atmosphere Foundation because I realized that the color and finish wasn't exactly what I wanted. I went to Credo Beauty to pick up a bottle of Gressa, and I was introduced to this Ilia baby instead! I tried it on in-store and loved the naturally smooth and luminous finish! It absolutely looks better than the Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation! I have Oily/Combination and Sensitive Skin, and this foundation feels and looks like a dream 🤤♥️

Just found your channel...subscribed 👍😊 I got samples of the foundation from the Detox Market ...they have a great sample program. I really liked it as well especially for my mature skin. It’s so weightless and gives a beautiful finish. I agree with you it does oxidize a bit - still playing with my samples to see which color is best. Sometimes I have to mix for my skin tone. The only thing is I’ve noticed a bit of irritation when I was of off - it might be the Coconut Alkanes - sometimes I can have issues with Coconut Oil or derivatives ...it’s way up on the ingredients list. I’ll keep playing and see how it goes. I know it has Dimethicone and a couple other ingredients that are not totally clean but it’s definitely a far cry from conventional. If you like this foundation you make like the Inika Foundation- it’s amazing and super clean!! Also the new reformulated Ere Perez and the Sappho Essentials Foundation which has also been reformulated. Both are really nice foundations. All are totally different. Sappho also has their New Foundation which is a bit more of a matte one ...I mix it in with the essentials sometimes but I have drier skin and I find the essentials is best for me. Plus the new foundation has Coconut in it as well so I can’t use all the time. Essentials has no Coconut of any kind. Love, love Vapour!! Their foundations didn’t work for me but I love their Bronzers and multi-use sticks and their lipsticks!! They also have a great sample program. Thanks for a great review!! ❤️

Also wanted to say Ere Perez just launched another new foundation separate of their reformulated one. BTW - I saw your other video on chronic pain. I was going to comment but haven’t had a chance! I to had a life changing accident and can appreciate and understand all that you said. Summer of 2012 I fell from an elevated porch on the back of my head and suffered a mild traumatic brain injury from which I have lasting symptoms. Also because of the fall I have chronic neck, shoulder and back issues. It’s been quite overwhelming as you can understand. Thank you for sharing your story - that takes courage to put yourself out there and thank you for sharing how you coupe with your pain. I feel it’s hard at any age to experience chronic pain but especially at a young age. I actually suffered from a degenerated disc in my low back in my early twenties but was able to get through it and get on to a good pain free (for the most part) place for many years. And then I got a virus from my son when he was 4 (he is 17 now) that basically gave me arthritis through my entire body that lasted for about 10 years - it’s better for sure but I still have some low grade residual stuff from that. And I have had some other stuff but it’s too much to mention here and I don’t want to sound like a sob story!! Just mentioning because I completely understand how hard chronic issues can be physically, emotionally and mentally!!! Hang in there!!!!!

This is such a great observation. Dimethicone is an ingredient that I am definitely becoming more aware of. I have started to do my own research about it and really feel conflicted over it. I would love to know if you have any resources or any opinions on dimethicone, it would be really beneficial for me and everyone here to understand more about it and more about why people are feeling hesitant about buying products with it :) I love what an informed consumer you are!

I know this is going to sound crazy, but I actually have never owned a MAC foundation, so I am not familiar with their shade range... I'm pretty sure I am one of only 3 people on the planet who can say that haha BUT I did look online, and you are right it does look like pretty much the same shade as the product I am using. I think the best thing to do would be to order samples from thier website just to make sure you get the right color match! So sorry I couldn't be more help shade-wise, but I would love to know what you end up thinking of the foundation if you end up getting samples! :)

Hopefully, someone will see this who has and be able to chime in, but I have tried samples of Gressa's foundation. Unfortunately, I couldn't find a color match in Gressa's foundation, so I only tried a small sample, but from what I did try, I think the Gressa one has more coverage and dries slightly matter than this ILIA one. From the sample, I think the Gressa one might be slightly heavier as well, but I also think you need less of it to get great coverage, whereas you will need a full pump of the ILIA one to get a comparable coverage :) I hope this helps! If anyone else has tried either, please comment below with your thoughts!

I use Dermalogica dynamic skin recovery with spf 50. It is in their Age Smart line. It works great with my Ilia foundation. It is expensive but the bottle has 1.7 ounces. I love it. I was finding that using a separate sunscreen was one more layer and would often change the way foundations would sit on my skin. I buy it from Ulta and stock up when they have sales or coupons I can use to buy it.

Yay! I can't wait to hear what you think. I have only tried a small sample of Gressa's foundation but from what I could tell Gressa's foundation has slightly more coverage, and you need a little less of it in general. I might be remembering wrong, but I think Gressa's was even more liquidy than this one -- maybe I'll pick up another sample and try doing a comparison video if you think that would be helpful :) -- ILIA's foundation dries to a smooth finish. For me, it dried with luminosity, but it doesn't feel greasy at all! It felt totally set on my face, but I still looked glowy and radiant! Hope this helps, xxo

Such a good question Emily! That is so tough... I feel like the gressa foundation is even higher coverage than this one so if I am really wanting a flawless look I would go for that BUT the ILIA one matches my skin tone so much better so if I am not in the mood to put a full face of makeup on and to do some color correcting to match the rest of my body, I usually reach for the ILIA foundation. I am thinking of doing a video where I compare all the foundations I have tried so I'll make sure to let you know if/when I post that. My rule of thumb between the two is: if you are looking for the fullest coverage and most product for your money go for gressa, if you are looking for a larger shade range and a dewier finish do ILIA.

This is a information, detailed video. Thank you. Just some constructive feedback though. Particularly in scenes where you are applying the foundation to the skin and demonstrating the wear on the skin, it would much more helpful to viewers if you zoom into a head shot. Top of shoulders at most. It is not necessary for us to see your torso and hands. It is otherwise very hard for viewers to truly appreciate the details. You can always zoom out for general discussion segments.

Such a good question! It is 100% vegan, a green foundation and in my worldview nontoxic. However, it is important to say it contains silicone ingredients such as dimethicone so if you are avoiding silicone this, not the foundation for you!

Such a good question. It is an ingredient much like talc where there is a lot of debate over whether it is safe or not. I always suggest that everyone does thier own research on ingredients to make sure they find a mix of information and then decide for themselves whether they want to use the product or not. Besides silicone being a synthetic ingredient it also can irritate your skin if you are acne prone because it can block oils and dead skin cells in your pores.

It is hard to give a yes and no answer to this because for some people the idea of a synthetic ingredient isn't safe whereas for others it is okay. If it is helpful, my personal philosophy is it is safe in cosmetics that I use and take off at the end of the day but I tend to stay away from it in skincare because I personally don't feel like I know enough about it to decide either to not use it all or to use it in anything.

Firstly I so admire your ability to read and understand an ingredient list off of a product label! That is seriously such a valuable skill and I personally still have to look up ingredients to understand what they are :) Dylan's comment below is very accurate about my channel. In an ideal world, I wish all products were 100% natural but I try to review a spectrum of "clean" beauty brands on my channel so people with all different budgets and concerns will be able to find a healthier choice that is accessible to them and in their price range. So far I have discovered several brands that I consider excellent for composition. I use Purobio BB cream as a base - medium coverage- and Zao creamy compact Foundation as a concealer. I would try Estelle & Thild foundation, since with skincare products I'm finding well..and also Nui cosmetics foundation and the last one reformulated by Ere Perez.
