I own one of these and I love it! It works great on laminate floors. You do have to presoak the brush or i throw water with a bit of detergent on the floor and the Ilife shinebot does the rest. Great battery cycles. No Wi-Fi, no navigation just a simple mopping robot that does the job! It doesn't slip neither.

I have my Shinebot, which does have WiFi and app, for over 1 year with remote cleaning (you can start it when you are away from home) and a produces a general (bad) map of where it cleans. I can not speak to tile floors, I can speak to flat floors. I have NEVER seen it slip or get stuck (in rotation). The current version of this device does have a camera and seems to keep very accurate lines in the cleaning pattern (if you watch it), though the map it produces is not very helpful. I would rate it (untested) at 90 - 95% accurate as far as cleaning pattern. It may or may not now qualify as a 'smart' device but it out cleans every 'smart' robot we have purchased in the past and have purchased currently and returned. The reason is very simple, it has BOTH clean water and dirty water tanks. The unit puts clean water onto the floor, uses its brush to emlsyfuy the dirt and water off the floor and ACTIVELY removes this dirty water from the floor by continual suction. It then deposits the dirty water off the floor and into its dirty water tank. This is unlike other robots using a non suction arrangement of a pad / scrub brush. It does not matter if these brushes or pads vibrate or rotate they are passive in the sense that they are not actively removing dirt by suction, but rather by attempting to absorb what they can into the pads or brushes. If the robot does not have active wet & dry tanks, the robot can ONLY emulsify the dirt with water and absorb what it can on its pads / brushes. This is the main problem. Why? Well it is kind of gross but think of it in terms of bathing. The units that use the brush / pads are like taking a shower and using only a wet hand towel and soap to bathe --- without rinsing the towel or washing your body with clean water but only relying on the towel to absorb any and all dirt. That's not going to be easy or efficient and your body is much smaller that the area of the floor. Some mopping machines have much small pads than the size of a hand towel. The clean tank with the dry tank is like taking a real shower in the sense the cleanser is applied, the towel washes and then everything is whisked down the drain and away from the body. Less gross and maybe more accurately, on the pad / bush machine dirt is absorbed on the pad or the spinning brushes BUT once those reach their saturation point with dirt and water they are unable to absorb more. Instead, they will drag the dirt they emulsify in water and redistribute evenly on the floor giving the illusion that the floors are clean. In fact, only SOME of the dirt has been removed. The apple juice test you used, while a good test for esthetics (does it LOOK clean, does It FEEL clean), is not going to show very accurately if the floor has actually been particulate (dirt) cleaned. However, this can easily be tested by applying a UV reflective substance in multiple random spots thought the test floor area and testing a wet / dry tank vs. a brush / pad device. After cleaning a blacklight (UV) can be used to illuminate the floor. What you will find is that the pad / brushes will begin to leave ghostlike streaks and entire patches over the floor because they can no longer absorb the UV substance (which is mimicking dirt for the purpose of the test). They will be ghostlike because the machine will emulsify (thereby diluting) the UV test "dirt" while spreading it. The suction device will have far less, if any, because it is actually sucking up the liquid it puts down and mixes with the UV substance (dirt). Dyson has now incorporated this general concept of dirt detection in some (or one) of their devices which have UV detection. Two caveats to this, the smart device, if using laser guidance, should have a much more accurate cleaning pattern, but that can actually make it worse in a sense as the dirt (depending on the level) can be spread to 'all' areas. The random device will probably not hit over 90 % accuracy on floor cleaning patterns but a decent clean water / dirty water tank will clean as opposed to cleaning some and redistribute the rest. Second caveat, if the floor cleaning machine uses a base which self cleans the brush / pad this can be a big plus. I say can because to make it actually clean better, as opposed to just making general maintenance easier on the user, it must be able to detect when its pad or brushes become saturated to the point where they can no longer absorb any more dirt at which time it must return to the base for cleaning. No unit I am aware of does this, they return only when done or in need or a recharge or based upon some preselected (not active monitoring) algorithm. Also, besides the complexity of such a unit it then becomes far less efficient than a clean / dirt tank as it uses so much more water, time and energy to continually clean its dirty pads / brushes. I am not a huge fan of Shinebot because while I find it does do exactly what it claims to do, to be really a great device it needs to be able to return to base and recharge itself automatically. Why would you want to use the remote away from home cleaning feature if the robot runs out of battery and can not recharge by returning to base by itself? At most, if you are away from home, you could only use this feature once if the battery were to run out. Second, it needs to be able to refill, when necessary, its clean water tank and remove the contents of the dirty water when it returns to the base station like some of the current smart devices do. Laser guidance and mapping (with ability of two floor or more one hopes) would be needed also. So the choices, for me, are a very clever device that make you think your floors are much cleaner than they may be at a price of US 1000 or a device which cleans the floors very well at a price of US 230 but completly lacks the more detailed features (self cleaning, return to base, mapping) that the more recent units have. This brings me to what you said perfectly, will there ever be a truly working and feature efficient floor moping device? Sorry for any typos.

Pre-soaking the bar - although slightly messy - definitely helps. I’ve spent hours watching mine run and I’m impressed with its navigation without any fancy tech. Being slow helps with it not destroying my furniture or baseboards, and the battery life if exceptional. I have laminate floor so no slipping. Looks like a huge problem on tile. I do wish I got the w450 for the WiFi and app support after the fact.

Provided you didnt get a defective one, I would solve the lack of traction just by adding a couple of very flat rubber bands to each wheel. I'm looking for a mopping robot, and based on what I've seen on other videos and yours, I think the navigation algorithm of this one is more suitable for my home than the samsung, though considering just pure mopping capabilities the samsung I'm sure is probably a lot better. Thanks for your review.

I own one for about a year now and have no issues with it , I think I remember seeing that if your grout lines are bigger than 3/8 of an inch or if you have heavy texture floor will get stuck like that specially in zones where the tile are a little uneven ,on the pic description at Amazon will tell you that and that’s where I saw it when I first purchased it , great video but try it on your hardwood floors and it should be ok

You should stop using liquid with light tint and switch to grape juice the blue color should show up easly. When i run braava always pre moisten the pad with cleaning solution a good practice on any of these.

iRobot Scooba also had slippery wheels a lot, but it had sensor when wheels turning and Scooba not going, and it did insanely quick maneuver and it unstucked. Smart. This one is bit dumb.... That squeeky sound is normal, if robot have vacumming squeegy, it does this sound. It sounds weird, but it is ok. I think, it would be better on pvc.

Well thats disappointing, I thought it would actually do a good job. I think you should do one more test with it on your wood floors just to see if it was the robot or the flooring type. Granted for a mopping robot it shouldn't matter on tile like this but curious to see how it does on wood.

I dont think its slipping. Usually when it spots cleans it moves very slow and focuses more on making the brush roll and penetrate over dirt and grime.

Yes the clicking sound is the pump priming itself, I still have the old IRobot Scooba , which is the same system, 2 tanks and squeegee, and it does the exact same sound when it start. Can’t wait to see how this one does, I paused the video to write this, this model is on sale for 200$ Canadian on Amazon.ca, which is a really good deal for a floor cleaner like this (if it’s good). So back to watching your vid....

I thought it would do good. Maybe you should try the Shinebot with Vanilla Pudding. Also you should retest the Deebot T8+ but with that OZMO Pro mopping to see if it’s actually a good robot mop.

Not a realistic test. You're not going to leave such a huge amount of juice to dry. I've read reviews saying it's for regular maintenance, which would avoid the need for most deep cleans like this. It keeps getting stuck in the same spot, so looks related to the dried juice: either the syrup mixed with water creates excess liquid, or the bot slows in the syrup but continues to dispense water at full rate. It looks like it would free itself eventually though.

This mopping robot is the best, but I had to buy upgraded wheels from eBay so it doesn't get stuck. Since installing the new wheels it never gets stuck anymore. Here is the link to upgraded wheels: www.ebay.com/itm/233909288574

Disappointing robot. Not worth the $200 bucks. Thanks for the review! Tracks on a mopping robot would be a good idea as long as they didn’t leave marks on the floors.
