Thanks for sharing,, in 2024 are these the Best Buy or are there others out there? Also do these mop robots avoid carpets/rags when mopping? Thanks

I had a W400 for nearly 4 years. It stopped working, so I bought a W450. IMHO it is the much better option due to the different fine tuning abilities for brush rpm, water, and numbers of cleaning. It is working very well. The App could have been designed somewhat better. Though helpful for sure it could have implemented some additional features I have on my 1. Generation Xiaomi vacuum robot app, being 5 years old. Especially a saveable map of each room would be very helpful, You could much easier choose a zone for cleaning if you would have the actual map of the room to choose the zone from. As it now is, it is more or less guessing. Good to have the app, but there is a lot improvement to do to make it perfect. Anyway, it is the best mopping robot of its kind for a reasonable price.

Are you Happy with w455 ?
@darkredvan2 жыл бұрын
@@theattorney6072 I have got the W450. Yes, I am happy with the W450, a much better navigation than the (older) W400. Cleaning / washing itself is on the same or very similar level, but you have several more options to adapt cleaning to surface and dirt level. IMHO it is the best machine in performance to price ratio. My only real „complaint“ is that they could have done a much better software for maps and showing the exact area for zone cleaning and storing / choosing from maps (rooms). A shame they botched that up. Would I buy ist again? Yes. Would I recommend it? Yes. Cleaning is good, Navigation much better than W400. Could they have Improved it even more? Yes, maps and picking an exact zone area for cleaning suck. Many (even much older) robots have a better solution.

@@darkredvan Many thanks for detailed reply. Did you hear of the smartmi A1 ? If not, have a look please. I would highly appreciate your point of view about it, compared to the w455 that you know well. What makes me hesitate on the SmartMi is the brush which appears softer than the one of the ilife, and the brush position on the front, not sure it will have enough pressure on the floor as compared to the w455.
@darkredvan2 жыл бұрын
@@theattorney6072 Regarding the brush: my floors are mainly PVC, most with surface structure, some flat, plus tiles. The brush of the W450 is softer in general (some kind of foam) with a spiral of harder plastic bristles. Those bristles are harder to clean than the microfibre brushes of the W400. Therefore I used the older microfibre with no difference in cleanliness of the floors (though the new brushes could be better with hardened dirt. BTW tank and brushes from the older model do fit without any problems at all in the W450. Will check on the SmartMi A1, did not hear of it. Ok, read some reviews and saw some videos. Seems to be a good concept for vaccuming and mopping, much better than those with a wet pad only. But - compared to 2 specialised Units, one vacuum and one mopping - I feeling it might have flaws in the size of room it can clean. Maybe I am a bit older fashioned, but I would always prefer one robot for vacuuming and one for mopping. But of course that‘s just my personal preference.
@theattorney60722 жыл бұрын
@@darkredvan Thank you. The SmartMi would be for mopping only. The dry vac is just an option i think. It has added features like the lidar, with Map, ability to go back to charge and clean its brush, but lack ilife features like precise water setup and speed setups for the robot and brush.

I thought I posted this but the comment seemed to have disappeared: Could you comment on the settings you are using to get the more efficient cleaning on the W450. I am asking because I have recently purchased the W450 on sale for $239 which I think is a pretty good bargain.

Hello. I bought the W400 about the same time you made this video and am about to try and use it! Your review was very helpful and although too late to do anything about it, I found the information your provided to be very useful. What I can't find anywhere is how to tell if the unit is charging. Since unboxing I seem to have lost the charging cable it came with so I'm trying out others that "fit" (they might be the original). Nothing is showing on the top of the mop, any ideas? I can get the instruction panel to light up, but it's telling me "low battery". Considering in four years it's never been charged not sure if that's because it's picking up power from the cable, or is in fact charging. Again, excellent information in the video.

These things are amazing. Got my w400 used for 100$, and it really amazes me occasionally. It can really suck large quantities of water off the floor. Like big puddles, not problem. And while the w400 is "blind", it goes in straight lines and leaves the floor really clean. I usually but detergent on the roller, as you cant put it in the tank. And also usually run it twice, the second run with just water. Its so silent you can let it do its job and it wont bother you at all. Auto docking etc would be pointless, as you need to set it up. Fill the tank etc, so dont expect it to be like bot vacuums. Its not like you mobb your floors everyday.
@BrandEver1172 жыл бұрын
Auto-docking could work if you had a base station with refill/disposal tanks and a decent self-cleaning process but that would definitely up the complexity and cost...and of course require better mapping which they obviously need to work on
@BrandEver1172 жыл бұрын
The W450 seems like it could be near perfect with some app/software updates. I'm baffled the other companies haven't made something like this yet. Even that Narwhal thing is basically an overpriced swiffer.
@lindylopez36062 жыл бұрын
iRobot made a mopping robot similar (better imho despite the lack of mapping or wifi capabilities) to this in 2006.. it had a dual tank, plastic roller brush bristles (not cloth!), and low profile build. It was called Scooba. I wish the company would stop with the new swiffer mopping vacuum they (and everyone else) have been releasing recently and go back to the older style.

7:59 if I use the w450 in default without any app, will it be the same as 400 and also stall? (I prefer the better one, but I don't plan to change any settings dry wet modes and only use default, so in this case I wonder whether they are just the same or not)

Personaly I'd save the money and get the 400. There has to be a point when a user has do some manual work and get a towel to pick up a spill on their own. I have an M6 and Samsung Jet bot and they are great for daily cleaning, but that's it.
@CordlessVacuumGuide3 жыл бұрын
Good point. But I do like its ability. Since you can't put harsh cleaners, I've tried spraying Lysol cleaner on tile to disinfect and running this robot and it was almost dry after the run. No streaks.

I think it would be worth the extra cost if they fix/update the app and add map memory.

It's disappointed that it doesn't dock itself for charging ! is there any other which can charge itself ? because I want to remote control it from outside of the house or from abroad
@TomerBenDavid2 жыл бұрын
How much better is the 450 than 400 on dry stains would you say in percentage? If I run the 400 multiple times are they equal?
@CordlessVacuumGuide2 жыл бұрын
I like the 450 better because it provides more consumers control through the app. The 400 is good, but there's no app and you can't control the water levels or the number of passes.
@Ragin.Official2 жыл бұрын
Do either of these two options have the ability to set them on a scheduled cleaning?
@CordlessVacuumGuide2 жыл бұрын
Nope, the charging station design makes it impossible, plus, the app doesn't have a scheduling feature.

thanks a lot, very nice review. I have already purchased a roborock S7, but may dump it for this robot, so I just grabbed a 450 on amazon to test and compare. I think in most households vacuuming isnt such a big of a deal as proper automatic mopping. At least for us mopping is #1 thing for a robot. And it seems to me this is the only proper mopping robot on a market. Another thing worth mentioning is noise, Me and my wife both work from home and using a vacuum that does the job 3x slower than a human while still producing same noise as manual vacuum for over an hour, may not be fun at all. So I think this model actually has A LOT of potential and is undervalued in most reviews. I will have to see when it arrives tho! No mapping is a possible deal breaker, but we will see how it will perform, we mostly only need that in the kitchen and may use roborock in the rest of a house

@@VladOnEarth LOL hello there, here we meet again :) thx for the point of view, which I already know but was not convinced. You, as an engineer, are looking mainly into automation and quality of materials and engineer stuff, but I am more looking into the cleaning result.

@@theattorney6072 engineer or not, automation is a main point of a robot lol Otherwise you can always clean better with any handheld vacuum. This one on a video was the worst by far, you will spend more time mainraining that than it would take you to clean everything yourself. Idk for me it's the difference between getting on hands and knees for an hour to scrub every inch of the floor or pick this thing up a couple times and rinse it out. Although I think you could definitely argue that maybe something like a Tineco wet/dry vac could be easier to use.
