Yes. I live in Manchester, UK. Ive grown up in a house under the departure path for flights from Manchester Ringway Airport. As a young kid i saw 727s, DC-10s, L-1011s, 747-100s and 747-200s daily. Those beasts would make the ground shake as they flew over my back garden. I fell in love with aviation. Today all planes are so boring. As a very small kid i could tell what type of plane flew over my childhood home. Today i still get the 787 and A350 confused. They are literally the same plane. Honestly Airbus just took the designs of the 787 and copy and pasted. Like every single plane since.

One of their 727s still comes to our airport fairly frequent. I have only seen it fly once from a distance but it was beautiful. On my commute when I passed the airport I always hoped it was there for me to get a glimpse. Love reading the stories from people in the comments. My dad took a flight with one back in the 80s from Germany to Spain. I can only imagine air travel back then.

And to think that this plane had a hush kit. Starting in 2000, 727s had to have hush kits installed in order to keep operating in the U.S. Prior to that, it was wild when a 727 would take off. I miss the days when 727s, DC-8,s and 737-100 would be miles away yet you could still hear the thunder-like rumble.

As a kid in the air capital of the world, Wichita, Kansas, my mom went to visit friends from church. They lived up the street from the end of the runway. I walked down the street and up to the airport fence and watched the planes take off. I loved being behind the 727's as they held the brake a moment and throttled up and released the breaks. Being blasted by the black smoky thrust putting my hands over my ears is a memory that I hope I will never forget as long as I live. I absolutely loved that!!! It's sad that kids don't get to experience that. I can still picture those days in my mind. St. Martins is maybe the closest to experience what I did alone in the 1960's but they aren't 727-100's.

VP-BAP flies out of Van Nuys every once in a while. When departing south, it takes a wide climbing turn to the east giving a beautiful profile view of the graceful lines. IMO, 727 is the most graceful looking airliner when seen in flight.
