just that cute taxi uncle making sure he didn't over charge you and being so sweet with directions is peak Taiwan in all its gentleness and warmness :')

I too solo traveled in Taiwan. I flew into TPE and took the train, using the EasyCard, to Taichung where I spent the night. After waking up and spending a few hours in Taichung, I jumped a couple buses and another train to Kaohsiung. Kaohsiung is awesome! I ate some wonderful food and met so many adorable people that helped me to practice the Chinese language. Lotus pond was blissful and randomly found myself with a family in their heritage temple: praying, burning incense, giving offerings, etc. Also, helped an old grandmother brake down a table. Afterwards, she invited me into her house so she could cook me dinner. Going to Taiwan was one of the best moments of my life.

Weylie, I'm so happy you solo traveled to Taiwan! Taiwan is super safe and the people there are incredibly friendly! A tip for traveling solo is to bring a portable charger~ You can buy them either at 9x9 stationery store in Taiwan or at a mall (although they might be a bit expensive there.) So happy to see that you loved visiting Taiwan! 💖

I adore travel vlogs! This video reminds me of the beauty of Taiwan, the nostalgia of watching Taiwanese dramas in the past. What always made an impression on me was the beautiful lush greenery, the mountains among the city. Taiwan is somewhere I would love to visit one day. So exciting!! I go back almost every year since most of my family is there. If you ever have the opportunity to visit again I would recommend going during November - January. During the holidays there are so many places that have beautiful decorative festive lights along with flower gardens. It's chilly but if you don't mind the chilly temperature it's definitely a different vibe 😊.

I hope this doesn't come off as rude by any means but I find it so fascinating that you can speak Chinese but not read it!! I think that's really interesting/cool hahaha and you speak it really well too! Taichung is actually read as Taizhong in Chinese ("zhong" meaning "middle") - the anglicised spelling can be confusing heh.
