Despite his age Ilkay Gundogan is a stellar signing and for free its one of the best deals of the window. The reason Barcelona let him go is not because of his performance last season. He was one of their best players and always available. Barcelona is Spain's answer to Chelsea. A mismanaged club on so many levels. Barcelona need to get rid of players in order to register Dani Olmo and other new signings.

Gundogan is the perfect replacement for gundogan. Just as a stop gap for a year or two and to have around the younger players. Players like kimmich and musiala who city want to try and sign are available next year so it works well to bring in gundogan now rather than splashing out on another young player. He’s also done his coaching badges with us so I think it’ll be a furtherance of his latter career to join us again too

i’m a barca fan, gundo was our BEST player last season. yes, better than yamal. he was also always fit, which is an issue we have, especially in midfield. i assume we kicked him out because we initially thought we’d be able to sell frenkie, however frenkie is hard stuck on staying. plus his wages are astronomical from the previous board, and not many clubs, if any, will be paying them. AND he’s been injured the entire summer, so we literally couldn’t have sold him even if we wanted to. gundo may be 34 soon, but trust me, he hasn’t lost an inch in his stride. city will win everything again this season
