Of course we understand that there are mysteries in the Biblical text. But, the LORD has given us His word to learn from and to live by as a blueprint, we humbly and obediently apply--as we are humanly able--and as we sanctify toward Christ's image. We are mistaken to cherry-pick. We believe the entire Bibe and pay attention to Christ's commands specifically. When we accept the blood-bought propitiation of Jesus, the Holy Soirit takes up indwelling residence, as the Bible (the NT) reports. One of the Spirit of God's tasks is to provide Scriptural discernment. The Helper helps us to think like Jesus. Even in situations of questioning, He is the Reminder--as with the Apostles of Jesus--Who brings back into mind the teachings of Christ, and unchanging truths of the Biblical text. John 14:26 JESUS: "But the Advocate, the Holy Soirit, Whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all the things that I have said to you."

Calling himself a Spurgeonist isn't fooling anyone. I agree. His preaches are great if you take the at face value and de-TULIP all of the Calvinist-y bits. I don't really get why he is a Calvinist either. That means that he believes that Jesus didn't die for all only the elect. I find that scary. Yet in other preaches that is precisely what he does say - that Jesus does die for all. He is very contradictory in some of his messaging. Either that, or Calvinism is ill understood by those who don't hold to that doctrine (or what they believe is that doctrine).

Excellent word, but if I may add something. You can get a zeal for God by truly understanding the magnitude of Christ but you can only truly understand Christ by the power of the Holy Spirit, which means you can only maintain that zeal needed to “present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice” through the power of the Holy Spirit. It’s really important to remember that. He (Paul Washer) eluded to that a bit but I think it’s really important to emphasize that because Paul Washer is such a great teacher and preacher that you can easily walk away from one of his sermons on fire for God but without daily seeking to die to self, and truly seek to walk in the Spirit every hour of every day (Gal. 5:16-18), even the greatest zeal birthed in your own passion and/or discipline will lose steam no matter how many truths you agree with, because our strength and will are limited, while the power of the Holy Spirit is limitless. Again, I think he did elude to this a bit, I just really think we need to fully get a hold of the importance of the Holy Spirit in our every day lives. Still, great word here by Paul, very powerful.

"For the wages of sin is death" (romans 6:23) every sin deserves punishment of death, even if it isn't murder or destruction, sin is sin. Oh that this message were the sole sermon to the followers of Christian-inanity. It seems he is unwilling to break with denominational ties and the theological baggage of people like Spurgeon ect, in order to be truly real. He is still a walking contradiction. If calvinism is true, why even preach? He needs to grow up and become his own man of God and stop letting these warped notions of grace and salvation hinder his witness.He knows that cheap grace is abominable but refuses to grow up into the fullness of the truth.Yet, you can gain from hearing him, just be careful.

My point too. I really love and appreciate Bro' Paul's fabulous preaching, but it is puzzling that the elect to whom he speaks needs no such encouragement - especially one so passion filled as his are - because God is regenerating them anyway due to them receiving the supernatural effetive call, and for the non-elect to whom he speaks, they are not going to benefit from his preaches because they will be not be saved anyway, irrespective of what they do. It makes no sense to preach, therefore, as you claim.

The correction that Reformed Theology engages your spirit to Is that it initiates your actions such that all you do and all of life is consumed by God's purpose... That's all I see Paul expressing... and in light of a comparison in juxtaposition between the amenity of contemporary life of even the most impoverished among us... and those of Christian antiquity of persecution martyrdom and burning at the stake- for translating Bibles, etc.... It is really a surprising indictment of the lack of this realization in both of the comments here. This is the "holding up of a mirror" to everyone as a gauge of the locality of where their heart-&-mind is in proximity to the mind of Christ . It is the very distinction in Metanoia. ✝️

My God does not advocate that behavior, and he did not create sin. Look at this way: God is light, sin is darkness. Did the light create darkness? no. How does a man do this, my entire life will go to this, and I will never know the truth fully for how complex it is. I need a true teacher who can teach of the word of God, hours upon hours every day till I know the word. I am of no use to God as I am, I am but a dull ember of zeal to God, who knows no words and has a poor prayer life. How can I be saved, I am completely unaware of how to act in the world. I need the saving grace of God, I know that God died for my sins, I know that he sacrificed his son for my sins. Is that enough to save me? I will work to know more of God forever, and love him, but am I saved by this knowledge?

Yea, it's like listening to Piper. Someone can dream up a topic or point, then find scripture they think backs it up - but what they have to say is truly "God-breathed" & ALWAYS rooted in the cross. Scripture just pours out of their sermons & half the time they don't even site the verses.

He is only a man. He wouldn't want you to glorify him in this manner. The glory is God's alone and he would say he failed if he thought that after listening to his sermons you want to know him instead of God.

the facts? the only fact is that this universe did not create itself, that we are not alone. there is a God. that is the one fact I am fighting for. many people, such as yourself, "are darkened in their understanding and separated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them due to the hardening of their hearts. " if your idea of "educating yourself" is listening to the gospel of Christ and then refusing to believe it, then you need to find a better way of educating yourself.

@conian7 I never implied any ambiguity with the scripture. Where does it say you can't lose salvation. I actually agree that we are perfected in our spiritual nature immediately at the time of initial conversion. now, what we have dwelling inside us, as a matter of life and potential, only makes our judgment more severe if we neglect to allow this salvation to flow out into our souls, conforming us to His image in real living. We are judged by our works and condition of our souls.
