As a 40 year old dad and Talaria owner, I love seeing the younger people including my own son out on these. You're having fun without hurting anyone, enjoying the great outdoors . The governments will fight this, but the cat is already out of the bag. Keep it up, they're going to have to find a way to accommodate E-Bikes and let people ride legally without huge barriers.

E-bikes are already legal, and they don't require any special licenses or permits. The problem is that e-bikes legally have a power limit, because where they can be used on bike paths and sidewalks, they are meant to mingle with non-motorized traffic at slow speeds. The Sur Rons they ride are as powerful as actual motorcycles, which require license, registration, and insurance to operate on public roads. Street-registered electric motorcycles already exist, so what these people are doing is taking "off-road only" bikes on the street without doing what they need to keep themselves and others safe. These kids will get real e-bikes banned for people who actually need them because they can't be distinguished from off-road only electric motorcycles.

Surrons and the like are not road legal for the average person, there needs to be an easier barrier to entry to allow these to become street legal. Noone is going to stop people from riding them on the street: people like myself have the resources to get them registered and plated but that's not fair to younger riders who can't shell out the excessive cost to get it done.

@@chrisaz82 What are you talking about? These off-road electric motorcycles are $4k+. Licensing + registration is not the barrier to entry relative to the cost. Anyone can buy an ACTUAL e-bike or bicycle for FAR less and not have to insure or plate them. I got a motorcycle endorsement at 16, and a running used 150cc scooter for $300. It's not hard; it just requires not being a POS. These bikes are marketed as electric dirt bikes, but they shouldn't be on non-motorized trails where they go too fast to be safe to pedestrians and where they tear up the trails EXACTLY like dirt bikes. People buy these specifically to ride wherever they want, even where motorized vehicles are banned because they're a safety hazard to other users. Encouraging pre-teens to purchase electric dirt bikes and ride dirty on the streets, sidewalks, and trails is irresponsible and dangerous.

There is most certainly a barrier to entry as most municipalities will not register or plate them without some trickery and or lawyers. This is why people resort to “riding dirty” as you put it.

@@chrisaz82 The process is the same as with any other off-road vehicle. If you buy an off-road vehicle, you have no warrant that it will be possible to register in your jurisdiction. There are plenty of other options that are offered street-legal from the factory, as are there options for electric bicycles that are not legally considered motor vehicles and which can be ridden pretty much anywhere normal bicycles can ride. People buying dirt bikes and complaining they can't ride them on the street because they don't have license and registration is hilariously stupid and entitled.

I used to ride a regular hybrid back in the 90's when I lived in San Jose CA. I thought I was hot shit going approx. 20mph. When I moved to San Antonio TX, the heat and hills made it difficult to ride comfortably. Now I am looking to get the Aniioki A8 Pro Max in a couple months. I just started building on a mongoose cx24v450 and I already stripped and pained the frame candy red and pearl white, threw on a set of MJ2 forks, ixf crankset, got a motor riser plate made to fit a larger 72v 8000w motor and controller and a set of 20in wheels on Gemini hubs laced with 12g spokes, rocking magura dual piston hydro on the front with a 180mm rotor. Rocking a 14 motor sprocket going to a 44t wheel sprocket and it hauls ass, I have to run a backpack battery tho cause I haven't had anything made small enough to fit in the frame but it doesn't bother me. Wish suronster could do a vid on it

Love the enthusiasm, the camaraderie, the laughs, the custom bikes, and the cool tricks, but do worry huge groups taking over city streets like this gives a negative impression of moto riders everywhere. It's great everyone is having a great time, but it is at the expense of every driver on the road not part of your group. I also saw riders not wearing a helmet, and most bikes I saw are not street legal but being ridden on the street amongst the clueless and distracted drivers that are "traffic". Everything becomes more dangerous, and can quickly turn a fun outing into a disaster. Happy riding!

I've riden Crotch rockets and Motocross bikes since the mid 80's. I just got an EoVan Silo E- Board. Nest is a Sur Ron or Talaria.
