The odometer sticker reminds me of the days before I had a garage and needed a permit to park on the street. I received dozens of tickets totalling thousands of dollars for failure to display a valid permit. When I went to court, the by-law officer testified at some length that he did indeed see the permit, and confirmed that it was valid, but that it was not displayed in the lower portion of the windshield on the driver's side, as clearly stipulated in the by-law and on the permit itself. When the judge asked why I did not display the permit as required, I explained that the motorcycle in question had neither a driver's side nor a windshield. After a deep sigh, he proceeded to lecture the officer on how he needed to use some common sense and consider that the letter of the law is not always aligned with the spirit of the law.

Amazing video as always, on a related note… I’d love to Ryan have a crack at what the Euro 5 restrictions mean around mods. I mean I know we all don’t modify our bikes by changing pipes, Decats, air filters etc…

That bar end mirror is the perfect thing for looking behind you when riding gravel roads standing up…while still having regular mirrors. Had more than a few close calls with pickup drivers who think they’re doing a Targa Newfoundland rally stage…

Hey! what about all the "MODS" who load up their scooters with a ton of mirrors!

Honestly tiny mirrors and indicators right under the headlight and seven inches apart seem rightly illegal. Safety equipment being safety equipment isn't defined through the presence of equipment, but through its functionality.

Most stock mirrors are kind of shit, mine vibrate like all hell and are too small to see shit. You forget my bike was made as cheaply as possible, and a lot of accessories are assembled as cheaply as possible. Most people will be eventually replacing them with something they like/functions for them. I need bigger ones, they want smaller ones. If neither of us actually checks the day it matters, what's the difference between us?

lol I love my 90 fzr 1000 mirrors they look like mickey mouse ears and all you see in them is your elbows lol but there pure fzr nostalgia

My stock 1985 GSXR mirrors give me a great view of my elbows. They look awesome but don’t work at all. The clip on mirrors I replaced them with actually work.

The comments above matches really well with how little other bikers seen to care about indicators I am pretty confident that the BMW club uses indicators more than bikers, at least locally.

For me its not about the size of the mirror or the location of the lights, its about clearing my elbows for an unobstructed view with in that mirror and attracting attention to the Bike its self during all lighting conditions. Its a safety thing for mostly me and also others..

Another good illegal mod is the flip up number plate activated by a handle bar switch . When getting a move on it will save you a ticket as long as you don’t stop .

A pretty ordinary bike will have no problem outrunning a Crown Vic. No bike can outrun a Motorola.

Ok, my take on this video: I added blind spot mirrors under the OEM ones and use every ride; I added extra LED turn signals in addition to LED replacements on my Wife’s ‘09 Vstrom 650 so as to be seen better (for that Panama trip); Kawasaki didn’t anticipate anyone would ride their 2003 Voyager over 100K so my bike now has only 4K miles. I have a Ram mount for my phone (doesn’t have the charger feature) and it has been used all the way to the country of Panama without any sun issues (rain yes). Thanks for your reviews and educational videos. When Canada finally opens up for tourists from down under I hope to swing by the neighborhood.
