Undetectable Knives are controversial to some due to their non-metallic nature. However, that does not stop many people from using them in non-permissive environments. An example of one of these knives is the Revenant Corps Grackle (RevenantCorps.com), handmade from G1 0 and finished with tsukamali wrap on the handle (the type of handle wrap you see on traditional Japanese swords). Every component of this knife is non-metallic including the sheath that is held together with replaceable shock cord. There are twovariants, one with stingray skin underneath the handle wrapping ($125) and one without ($95). USA made. *Observe all local laws and only carry these weapons at your own risk.

A good self-defense weapon is a pencil made entirely of graphite(no wood, just pure graphite), because it can be used and when you need to, you can easily make it VERY pointy again(unlike with pencils made with woode that tend to have flimsy interiors and the wood seems to break easily). You can bring it anywhere if you have a notebook, so people will only assume that is for art(only).

Speaking having experience operating a 3D x-ray scanner: If the scanner operator is paying attention they will see non-metallic knives. The material doesn't matter, it's the shape of the object. I think the oldest scanner I've operated was made in 2008, and even on that you could mess with a filter settings to get it to automatically flag sharp edges. So if things like plastic knives would have a orange rectangle around them on screen. Yes, it is possible to occasionally sneak stuff through because humans are fallible, every now and then someone will not be paying good enough attention. I've seen people try and sneak in all kinds of sharpened plastics, obsidian or glass, improvised bone tools, a couple times I've seen pressed paper sharpened to a stabby point. If you want to bring a weapon onto a plane or any other weapon-free area, bring a sturdy pen or pencil.

@MrEwraggАй бұрын
Absolutely up for debate. Plenty of circumstances where this would not be legal to do any of those things (like in an airport) You could argue most scenarios where you would use it would be illegal as it is only designed to be used as a weapon so it’s only narrow legal use is as self defence when you feel your life is in danger In fact in the US these knives are illegal in at least 2 states and outside the US they are illegal in most developed countries.
@jameshanks8693Ай бұрын
@MrEwragg nope. Everything you said is patently false. We have laws against certain actions, not against inanimate objects.
@jameshanks8693Ай бұрын
@MrEwragg and your statement makes no sense anyway. If it were illegal by law then it would be illegal. There's no debate about laws as to whether they are to be followed or not. And there's no laws against plastic knives, or any other knife for that matter.
@MrEwraggАй бұрын
@@jameshanks8693 why don’t we take those comments 1 step at a time. 1. Of course you have laws against inanimate objects. Can you buy an assault rifle? Can you buy a rocket launcher? Can you buy a functional tank? Everything i said is false? Everything? So you are telling me you can go into the airport with one of these? You can buy and sell one of these in California and New York? So these are legal in everything single developed country? I would hope that you actually mean you disagree with some of what I say but you’re going to have to be more specific 2. That’s just not how the law works. Your suggestion was that something was 100% legal to do with as you please but the law is context specific. It can be legal to own something in certain places but not others. It can be legal to use it under certain conditions but not others. Different states have different laws, different countries have different laws. Life has nuance and life has context. If you were talking about doing those things in your shop in Florida it is very different to talking about doing them in a shop in JFK airport. Do you think you could buy or sell these in an airport? They are not 100% legal unless you specify the circumstances in which they are. Hence there is a debate about your comment

@@Amnct Weapons are extremely easy to make though. A knife is a sharpened rod A firearm is a tube that has explosive powder (easy to make with common chemicals) and a piece of metal to use as ammunition A bomb is just a container filled with an explosive chemical. It's basically a polymer clench-pick... NICE! Somewhere around here I've got one of those "stealth pokers" which is a G10 jabber wrapped as a Sharpie. It's pretty cool and all, but it's a poker only. Having an actual non-metallic "blade" would be far more preferable considering the versatility/depth-of-wound. But the whole "non-permissive environments" thing is somewhat misleading when you consider that they can't defeat the eyeball test or pat-down. They're great for metal detectors, but that's about it. I guess it really depends on the exact environment you're talking about...
@revenantcorps86772 ай бұрын
Defeating the eyeball or a pat down is about placement, and fairly easy to do in most situations. Ex, clipping the knife onto your underwear, you can adjust once in a more comfortable area.
@revenantcorps86772 ай бұрын
Placements defeat eyes and even pat downs. Clip it to your underwear and keep the handle below the pants line until you get to an area where you can adjust. 🍻 The knives also do not rust and are very lightweight, so for gym carry, running, or anywhere in or around water they make excellent carry pieces as well.

@MelissaBackwoods They are not radiolucent, meaning yes they are picked up by X-Rays. That being said they also don't quite look like regular steel. Which of course I can not recommend anyone do, anything that can be construed as a weapon the TSA can confiscate or deny you having as they see fit

It might make sense for some tool kits and EDC type they don’t want to rely on steel. But for the price point, I would just rather buy the steel one, preferably forged/Damascus. But this is coming from someone who builds knives, so that factors into my sense of cost as well . G 10 is a fun material to work with. But my goodness is it messy on the sander. 👍

Felony, big fine, AND the new scanners will likely pick it up. US airports generally use technologies other than metal detectors for most passengers.
@andrew2477Ай бұрын
Nope.
@huskykid0295Ай бұрын
It is absolutely not a felony to carry a plastic or ceramic knife on you, and airports aren't what most people want to get to with a metal free knife, concerts or movies or clubs are the places for metal free knives
@michaelmichael8406Ай бұрын
@huskykid0295 , that's fair. Airports are both where you're going to catch heat and where you're most likely to meet a scanner that will catch something like this. Concerts and such are a much better use case.
@777ynkАй бұрын
@@huskykid0295 you will absolutely get a felony for “illegal possession of a concealed weapon in a restricted area” if you try to bring this through a TSA checkpoint. The body density scanner WILL detect it even if you shove it up your axolotl. Source: I’m an ex TSA officer

You'd get busted trying to sneak one on a plane anyway. They don't use metal detectors, they detect density and would be found.

@seanrobinson7464 they confiscate literally tons of knives every year. Go read some tsa reports or watch videos of people unboxing tsa confiscated knife lots.

Its not something readily available, but i used some scraps of PEEK (poly ethyl ether ketone). It has a rc of about 90, chem resistant, ultra light, easy to cut and shape, hest resistant, and can stay very sharp. It is somewhat brittle but would make a good disposable weapon. Unfortunately it costs about 1500 bucks for a 12inch x 12inch x 1inch sheet. What can you expect for space material.

I did an ethics paper about TSA checkpoints and presented to the class how to get almost anything through TSA with everyday materials you can get from the hardware store. Since then they've updated the full body scanners but the ethics still apply, we only lose our privacy and only gain the illusion of security. TSA is, in my opinion a drain on our time and money
