First Reaction: First time in a DD2!

Justin is a league racer at Dallas Karting Complex and this is his first time driving a DD2 which is a 125cc, 2 speed kart. It's the fastest kart he's driven so far. He rides street bikes and takes his to a local track for fun so he's used to going fast....here's his first ride in a DD2. I'm in a Rok shifter following him.

How is this a DD2? A DD2 is the 2 speed direct drive version of the Rotax Max engine. The kart uses a paddle shifters and not a lever. ALSO THEY ONLY HAVE 2 GEARS. The driver in this video is not driving a DD2, it appears to be a ROK shifter but I could be mistaken

@@IllegalAlienRacing, my last race was in 2011 and that was a fun race before I joined the Army. My last serious competition was 2009 in the PKC series in Southern CA. Too long is a massive understatement. lol

Hola, Nice vid, these DD2s look very quick. How do they match up to the 125 shifters lap time wise? Will DKC be setting up a racing class for these beasts or just use them as rentals to prepare drivers to move up to shifters? Keep the pedal to the metal mi amigo!

They are really fast and close in speed/lap times to the shifters. DKC has had a DD2 class on club race days.

My single speed Fr125 CRG managed to beat a shifter around our local.. Basically its all corners.. Maybe 4 seconds of the 35 second lap is centre wheel in 3 parts of the lap.. Rest is wrestling the kart round the bends.. Bigger circuits destroy me. Thinking shifter or super kart next.... But for now.. One speed one brake rotor. 🤜🤛

Ahilan Palarajah kart kraft is good. Physics are close to what a kart is like but its never the same feeling lol. The gforces you feel from these machines is crazy.

start wirh rotax junior...its the smartest choice and will teach you that you need rib protection before breaking your ribs in a dd2

Literally just bought my first LO206 a few weeks ago. It is a Margay, which I bought because I'm from STL and they are headquartered in STL. I would suggest contacting your nearest track and see most popular class and chassis.

A good brand is sodi, very reliable chassis' and also pretty fast, otk or kr is also really good but the chassis' crack sometimes bcuz there is so much flex in it. I would recommend a secondhand sodi chassis👍🏼

Get whatever chassis is supported in your area. Don’t listen to people that say otk crack, they don’t crack any more than any other chassis in same racing conditions. But, if you want the best, single speed is usually OtK, shifter is CRG.

Al chassis is almost the same due to rules. But there is a smal difference. Buy a chassi that is easy for you to get part's to. Most clubs have spareparts for one maybe two chassis for sale in house. That is so nice if something happens you can buy immediately not waiting on parts.

chief, i dont know if anyone told you but if you want to be fast with shifter karts, get your racing line right (driving rental kart racing lines is dangerous because there will be no grip) just a heads up if you want to experience the REAL feel of driving a shifter kart right

This is a KZ2 with 6 gears... Kz2 is the most dificult kart to drive, is not his frist time...
