So Hyang has been singing for 20 plus years. She was 35 here and is currently 43. She is a CCM singer and has traveled to over 60 countries singing in churches and at charitable events. She has turned down many contrats because of her strong faith that has guided her to sing to comfort those in need and because of her health. She survived cancer at twenty and suffers from bouts if pneumonia that prevents her from the rigorous touring schedule necessary. Her purpose with her music is to praise God and testify through her singing and not to become famous. She made a conscious decision to follow her faith and not fame. She is an amazing woman that I discovered 4 years ago and my life is better with So Hyang in it.

She is Korean (now 43) a ccm/gospel singer, devout Christian, cancer survivor, university prof, cartoonist and fantasy novelist. She is not only one of the best female vocalists currently on the planet but a remarkable human being also. She is an independent artist who has turned down recording contracts from the big labels, including from Sony during 2020. She has no social media, and says her goal is to use her voice in order to bring comfort to people going through difficult times. She does all the arrangements of her performances together with her team. I am so glad you’ve finally been introduced to Dimash’s ‘queen’. Not only is she an exceptional vocalist, she is also responsible for the arrangement of all the songs she performs. You should try her rendition of ‘bridge over troubled water@ from the same series of shows. She literally rendered Michael Bolton speechless & when he regained his composure he simply said ‘that was spectacular’ & went on to say that she had taken the role of virtuoso. You should read her back story which will explain why she isn’t the household name all over the world that her stunning voice surely deserves. We all wonder if So Hyang is human or from another planet. Current odds are that she’s from another planet, with an outside chance she’s actually an angel come down from Heaven. 😇 We have never heard anyone sing like her, or be able to hold an audience in the palm of her hand until she lets them go. Her voice is, as one person described it, like liquid gold. Perfection in clarity and pitch, and she doesn’t fade in the upper octaves, which is startling when you hear her hit those 5th and 6th octave notes with such _POWER_ it actually gives everyone goose bumps-and makes us bald guys’ hair stand on end! As she says, her voice “is from God.” She does all the musical arrangements herself (with the input of her musical assistants), teaches vocal technique at a South Korean university and speaks four languages. Korean, English, French and Vietnamese. Let me catch my breath. OK. She is a survivor of uterine cancer from the age of 20, just after getting married, and states very plainly that God saved her life due to the prayers of her church. But this left her without the ability to have children so she decided to dedicate her life to being a Contemporary Christian Gospel singer and has refused recording contracts from the biggest corporations in the world. She only wants to sing for charities, churches and while doing missionary work, to strengthen those suffering through difficult times. David Foster, Josh Groban, Michael Bolton and others have all eagerly worked with her when they were in South Korea or Japan. She contracted hepatitis B from a blood transfusion during her cancer surgery and it clings to her to this day. Because of this she is prone to catching pneumonia but has sang perfectly while suffering from it in her live performance of “You Raise Me Up” before Shane Filan of Westlife on South Korean TV: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qpbCfWylm82Iqpo She has asked those who love her singing to pray that God keep pneumonia away from her, she has suffered from it on so many occasions. Imagine how she must feel with this coronavirus floating around everywhere! She just turned 43 on April 5, 2021, though in Korean culture she would be 44 because you are deemed to be one year old when you are born. She was about 37 when she sang this version of “Arirang Alone”, their unofficial national anthem based on a 600 year old folk song expressing their desire to reunify north and south: vimeo.com/308253527 While being sick with pneumonia eight times from 2016 through to 2020, and considering giving up singing altogether, she chastised herself and entered a televised singing contest called “King of the Masked Singers” in 2017 and won six consecutive times, which has catapulted her into international fame from the performances being posted on KZbin. Whitney Houston’s former manager saw her on KZbin and showed her to Oprah Winfrey, who brought her to David Foster’s attention. Foster then contacted So Hyang and arranged for her to share eight concerts with him at Tokyo’s famous Blue Note Club in late-2018. (For those who don't know, David Foster was Whitney Houston's producer for her albums, wrote "I Have Nothing", her most iconic song, and is probably the most famous and influential music producer in the world. But he left the management of the company to a woman she hated, so she had a fit and lay kicking and screaming on the floor. So Hyang says she saw herself in that young woman and then understood that God was keeping her from developing self-destructive character by withholding international celebrity status from her. She can also play the piano and guitar. Is there anything this genius level woman can’t do? Though she is less than 5' 4" and probably not even 100 pounds, So Hyang simply transcends the thresholds of music and takes you there with her. She becomes the song when she sings it and then re-emerges when she is done. An experience like no other. I don’t know what else to say. I’ve spent _entire days_ listening to her, and shed more than a few tears of joy along the way. She is indeed akin to an addictive substance you can't live without. I really must also compliment the choir, orchestra and audio/video production people So Hyang works with. They are all top notch from what I can see and hear and it is important to note that, as these are _essential_ parts of any great music production. The Korean people are easily as talented as anyone else. As you can see, I am a shameless fan. 😉

So ,,,,you have discovered possibly the best soloist in the world at the moment ....This lady is indeed incredible. For another suggest , please search for 4th Impact . They are 4 sisters with incredible harmonies. They are from The Philippines ( so you just know they can sing). They auditioned for X Factor UK 2015 and the video of their audition has 180 million views on you tube. They can sing nearly any genre of song and have many covers and a few original songs on you tube. They also do a free you tube live stream every saturday & Sunday at 8.30pm Philippine time . These sometimes go for 2 - 3hrs of fun , laughter, screams and a few songs....even impromptu performances of requests from dreamers ( dreamers are 4th impact's fandom name).

To think you've seen nothing yet. She has a stack of impressiveness. Here's the thing, her head voice perfect pitch and what she does with it, is as amazing as that crazy high mixed ability...which puts her on another planet. There's probably 20 songs that are this good. I'd do Arirang Alone from Immortals Songs 2 next for sure(her highest viewed performance on the original channel and the one everyone should get introduced by). There are so many. There's a slew from Masked Singer too which seldom get reacted to but are as amazing as the others. Like Breathe, Home, Mona Lisa. I thought I was hooked on reactions to all that I'd be hooked to then I got to the end of Breathe and it was just like, wait what. But oh yeah, then there's her I Have Nothing cover. Also I will always love you from Begin Again Korea. Misty from that is another. Oh Holy Night, the black and purple dress one. Where Are You is another but have to get the version that doesn't have the interviews cutting into it. Bridge Over Troubled Water, Everyone. Seriously all of those are epic level.

Loved how you pointed out her performer side and how great her sense/intuition is. Her vocal prowess side is quite overwhelming so most are too occupied with that to talk about the other aspects that make her performances so good. I for one have always been more impressed with what she chooses to do than what she can. Her sense for matching the right vocal climax with the emotional climax of a song is always so spot on. It helps that she has all the required skillset to dynamically build upto it and execute it flawlessly everytime. This is probably the main reason why she gets me on the feels so often.
