As a Penn State die hard what I saw yesterday in Illinois is what I watch every freaking year when we play Ohio State. You guys were just as good in the first half. Probably better. But eventually because we are deeper, we were able to wear you guys down and then take control in the second half. Same thing happens to us playing Ohio State. And to kind of give you an idea of depth, due to injury, we were on a third string offensive lineman by the fourth quarter and it wasn't obvious in any way.

The Illini need to keep grinding to improve their roster. It's not easy and the staff needs more NIL support. But Bielema's been at that level and we hope he can make it back to that level as the Illini head coach.

You guys played well in the first half but penn state ran it down your throat pretty much anytime they wanted. Penn state also dominated in the trenches on both sides.

Basically, if you take away the 1st Dr., Illinois did nothing on options. Then they made adjustments in Illinois didn’t have the players to adapt encounters adjustments wasn’t a matter of play, they just got out played overall because Penn State has better players.

Totally agree I love Bret but damnit he has to recruit better a couple of 4 stars in his tenure is not going to cut it . Illinois high school recruiting is abysmal. He has to do better. Transfer portal is one thing but Bret has to recruit better than he has

Bret needs to have an assistant just camp out in southern Illinois, East Saint Louis area and just live there and recruit the high schools hard like they never been recruited by Illinois before. Stay in Chicago and the Chicagoland area let very few High schools get out the state.

@@illiniguys4844 I love you guys but not really. I’m old enough to remember the 70s and 80s and early 90s before Barry Alvarez got to Wisconsin. Wisconsin was an absolute Joke in the Big ten . A Total disaster Beer school in the 1980s early 90s couldn’t compete against anyone in the Big Ten . Barry Alvarez came in and recruited and turned Wisconsin totally around. Bret was there with Barry . Bret needs to recruit better. If Brad can do it in Basketball there is no excuse in Football . Ron Zook was recruiting better than Bret . Bret has no excuse

Illinois lost the game in the trenches. Faster stronger linemen are needed to compete at the highest level.

PSU fan here. Neither fan base is happy this morning. We are same old same old. We can't score and rely on some luck to win. Injuries are killing us, but... Illinois definitely is better than we thought they were. Brett is a heck of a coach. You will do well this season.

Dude stop. You didn’t speak for the fanbase here. If we had a competent kicker we’d win way more comfortably. Psu would’ve covered if we had a kicker. Illinois had -15 yards rushing in the second half. And our OLINE dominated.

You don't speak for the educated PSU fans. Anyone who thinks that was the "same ole" PSU doesn't know football. Plus, the "same ole" PSU of the past decade is far superior to anything I've witnessed from PSU in my 35 years as a PSU fan. It's not close.

With the new money coming for the merger deal . Illinois can get better talent to compete to be in the BG10 championship. This merger meant the end of the West easy route. Yes recruiting
