This brings back so many vivid memories of the day my dad (who was also a fire fighter) took his last ride on a gurney from our home to the hospital as we all stood there trying to be strong. He paused & looked at each of us & around the family room as if he knew this was his last time seeing us and the home he built for us. This was one of the hardest days of my life. Tho he’s been gone almost 40 yrs, the pain never goes away. My only consolation is knowing he’s at home with Our Lord and no longer suffering. Miss you dad!

@@mozberg2191 In your comment you've stated "I wish..." . Going right back in time, in every part of the world, in every human culture, the overwhelming majority of humans have felt the need to believe in some sort of higher purpose. The question I ask is not whether there is or is not a God, but why does this need to believe happen across all of humanity? When you start to think about that question, and the statement you have made, it may be that there's a part of you that wishes or wants to have that faith or belief in a higher purpose. Maybe your rational mind or your 'logic' is dissuading you from letting yourself believe in a higher purpose. I believe there is some sort of God and there is a purpose. I hope and pray that you too can experience that faith and that it can give you some hope and comfort after the loss of your brother.

My mother died from cancer 2 days before Christmas. Throughout her battle our pug would curl up on her feel while she sat in her favorite chair. She had been hospitalized for the final two weeks but didn’t want to die in the hospital. We told the doctor she wants to go home and they obliged. Our dog held vigil outside her bedroom door 24/7. Even when she passed he would lie outside her door for about 2 weeks, just waiting for her to walk out. He then transitioned back to his original spot, at the foot rest of moms favorite chair. He grieved just as much as we did.

There’s no possible way to describe the intense anguish that takes over you escorting a brother or sister with whom you’ve experienced unimaginable situations to where they’ll spend their final moments on earth! In 2018 my fire chief finally went to the doctor to get ahold of his pain only to find out his body was riddled with cancer and given less than a month to live. Two days later, we barely got him back home before he passed 25 minutes after we got him comfortable in his favorite recliner. I pray that Firefighter Nunez’s last moments on earth are peaceful, and comfort and peace in mourning for everyone who loves him!

Let's all do a random act of kindness in his honor. It's so sad to see good people go knowing what kind of evil walks among us. Yet we know he is going home to a better place where that evil doesn't exist. God bless him and his fiance, and the dog too.

I've was a firefighter for 5 years, but in those 5 years I've seen to many of our brothers and sisters go. It hurts every time I hear another firefighter has passed, knowing full well of the pain it has on their families and fellow crews. Many don't even get to say their goodbyes, but at least you have that opportunity and the amount of support you have is beyond grateful. I wish you a peaceful journey and that you rest easy, you certainly earned it brother. We'll take it from here.

Prayers are to this man, his wife and kids. Add the four legged baby and all the firefighters out there. As you walk through the gate you will be greeted by a love one. The smell is so awesome like a breath of fresh clean crisp mountain air and all the wild flowers surrounding. You will feel such a peace and will not be in pain anymore, you will drift off to sleep. Until you meet the bright light that is so intense and the warmth of God's love surrounds you. Blessings to you all.
