Great video! I'm graduating with a BS in Chem-E from Illinois Tech next semester. Definately open to answering any quesitons. Just a quick summary of my experience: I was involved in atheltics for 4 years, I've lived both on and off campus, I've had 2 internships and 1 co-op, I did research for one semester, and I was involved in 2 student orgs. Professors are great; most of them are fairly old, but with that comes a lot of experience and pretty interesting anecdotes. City is awesome. People complain a lot about food...I think it's pretty average. If average isn't good enough, you will find literally any possible food place you can think within a 5 mile radius. Those of you worried about crime...anywhere you go that has a high density population will have crime. Chicago is certianly not the exception. But I have never witnessed anything myself. As long as you're not to far south of campus and avoid walking alone at night, you're not going to feel paranoid.

I’ve been at IIT for the past 4 years as a CS student and there’s a lot of things I agree and disagree with what’s in the video. I think you should have reached out to a more diverse student body and get their feedback - especially females

I cannot speak on behalf of all women or even all students here at IIT, but for the 4 years living on campus, I have never encountered a time where I felt unsafe at IIT. I have taken public transportation alone going to target, shopping, etc but only in the daytime. There have been times I have taken public transportation past midnight with friends and while it isn't 100% safe, it is always safer traveling with people. There are cases where shootings or robberies occur outside of school campus but our Public Safety system sends out alerts. Additionally, if you feel unsafe on campus, our Public Safety Officers can escort you as well.

@@chaiandcoaching hello again The prejudice that goes in the media against Chicago about it being unsafe ,not welcoming etc . However after watching this and a couple of other videos which covered students studying in Chicago ,it did really help as an outsider as I got to know a broader picture . Now coming to Chicago vs San Francisco, I will apply for colleges in these 2 states for Business analytics degree. Hence the query haha 😅

@@Machaivelli gotcha, well If you see the news you’ll notice San Francisco isn’t much safer than Chicago. But more important than news headlines is talking to people there. My advice is go to the source and only trust people who actually studied at those universities. Then you will get a better picture. Also, most international students overrate location when shortlisting universities. It’s not as important in America.

IIT has a diverse student body coming from all over the world and from US but it is nit here. You did not show the campuses of IIT. You passed the Chicago downtown where IIT built and could have add alumni names. 70 % of grad students with interdisciplinary programs. Steal lar architecture, design, business, law and science-engineering school to get one on one attention. I am not keen on sitting in a 500 student class literally like UWMadison 601 biochemistry class in 1991.
