Really? I’m happy for you. I’m looking into Florida, Michigan seems cool I’m just so tired of the cold…. Indianapolis seems cool but the state as a whole, is entirely too strict on cannabis. Actually Illinois voted republican for decades before it shifted to Democratic, but even after that shift, nothing changed in government decisions when it came to pensions, the budget, and out of control spending.

Family and friends kept me there and then one day, I decided they could come visit me when I move somewhere else and I moved to AZ. It's been 15 years, I made new friends where I am now, and I've set the tone for other family members to move here. How anybody can survive in Illinois is beyond me.

My property tax bill where I moved to is about the same as it was in Illinois. However, in Illinois I had a 40-foot-wide lot on a busy street, whereas now I have 2 acres on a lake.

You're more likely to make over $10k more a year living in Illinois than: Michigan, Indiana, Ohio and Kentucky. Illinois income tax, and sales taxes are comparable to other states. Illinois has the 8th cheapest water and 4th cheapest electric bills in the nation. It's mainly property taxes that need to be addressed. Solving the pension crisis, and lowering that burden would help Illinois out a lot. But many other metrics are very healthy in Illinois.

I work full time decent job I have raised a family here it was very hard but when I move they will probably follow. They all work full time too. We pay high taxes!! I’ve not heard it proposed at any time to make state pensions just like private sector pensions. State contributes a % while the employees are responsible for the majority. That can’t be retroactive of course but to start at the soonest opportunity would help a lot.

It's a state wide average. So there are individual areas doing well, but the state as a whole is in decline because there are other areas doing even worse that are dragging down the average.
