I have great memories of this section of the trail as a kid. I lived roughly 1.5 miles from the 64 underpass and a couple times a Summer we'd take all day adventures. I remember the first time we went very fair we reached South Elgin near the river and it felt like we'd just discovered some exotic new town. A few times we'd go all the way to St. Charles then realize how far we traveled just call our parents on a pay phone to come pick us up. I probably wasn't more than 11 or 12 and it wasn't a big deal to just be gone all day.

What great memories! It was the same for me as a kid. I'd head out of the house in the morning on my bike, meet my buddies, then fill the entire day with fast pitch games, the swimming pool, rides through a forest preserve. And the only rules were, be home by dinner and make sure you have change for the payphone if needed.

You do an amazing job as a content creator and video editor, technical specs such speed, route, location and elevation measures are important information for people who’s starting in this hobby. I live in Wheaton Illinois and I’m familiarized with all these places, I love these videos.

Thank you Carlos. That is exactly what this channel is about. See the ride before you try. Hope to see you out on the Prairie Path this year. Happy New Year and thanks again for the compliment.

On May 30th I made from Elk Grove Village to Elgin through Emlmhurst. Firts Salt Creek Trail, then Illinois Prairies Trail main branch and last to the Elgin. I loved that section from Wheaton goes through a Green Tunel. The road is awesome and well marked. I am going to repeat the route as soon as possible.

That's an impressive long distance ride. And you're right, the Elgin Branch of the IPP is the best.

They have changed that branch so much since the early 2,000s late 90s. I remember you to go on it and then you used to be hills that you can venture off either on ' or on a mountain bike and go on the hills. Also do you see more horse trails once you got into the Wayne section. I went south from Elgin to the great western prairie about 2 years ago and then because that section was close off south I got lost and end up circling back around back towards Elgin.

I love the channel. I'm from Chicago too and got the itch to go on a long bike ride in nature somewhere. What trail is the most scenic in your opinion? Be it on the Illinois Prairie Path or another path in the Chicago area?
@RoaminLama3 жыл бұрын
That's a tough question. It all depends what type of scenery you like. The lakefront path on Lake Michigan is a beautiful urban scenic ride. Of the rides I've recorded so far I really like the Elgin Branch of the Illinois Prairie Path and Moraine Hills State Park. And, sorry for the late response, I was completely unplugged and out of cell service in Colorado this week. In early August, I'll be posting some amazingly scenic rides, just not from the Chicago area.

So how do people continue on to the Loop from Forest Park? The L? Roosevelt Road? Or is it best to approach from the southwest side?
@RoaminLama2 жыл бұрын
The L for sure.

I feel like I would get lost with the multiple forks on the road .

For the most part the trail is well marked. But, that's why I make these, so you can see it, before you try it. Thanks for watching!

Yeah I feel you there. I can be bad with direction. I like to enjoy the ride not wonder if I'm going the right way.
@lubystkaolamonola5292 жыл бұрын
No worry, it is well marked and there are maps on the trail so you know where you are.
